Cheapest S30V knife?

I would reccomend you go down and try some CRKT knives. They offer great knives with good steel for $30 - $60. It will not be the besst of the best, but it will most likely be the best of anyone you know. I have a CRKT Crawford non-serrated edge knife wwhich I love for general utility. It has only one negative trait. It is a tad heavy in the pocket. BTW, here are my priorities:
Grip - make sure your knife fits your hand for the intended task as well as for opening. the handle design shouldd keep you from cutting yourself when you push the tip into something or when you push the blade into something.
Opening - Should open easily with one hand with out fear of catching a finger in it.
Lock - Must be absolutely solid so you don't loose a finger. I only have 5 and need them all!
Blade material - Should be a good enough steel for the most likely task
Others -Blade protection in the pocket, weight for use, looks, price, sheath etc.

So, do you think CBP/Homeland Security or some Texas LEOs would stoop to trolling for someone to commit this type of violation on a knife related forum?

No, not really. I don't think I know one personally that would do it. Just pointing out how the law is written in Texas.

I just turned 18 but have been collection for 2-3 years now. My dad gave me consent though.

Just so I'm not derailing thread further, you can find kershaw Leek S30Vs for $55 or so at some places.

I would like to see some of these places.

Thanks, 2bkc. My paranoia got the better of me there for a moment.

What do you guys think
Tenacious or Ontario Rat 1?
I'll be edcing this knife (prolly in a backpack or pocket) so weight has a small play.

I'd go ahead and go with the Tenacious first. Although I've used both and want to buy them both soon. :D

Like the other guys have said, there's alot of knowledgable people on this forum. You'll learn alot in the coming months just by reading over some of the threads on here. Also, don't get caught up on blade steel....... it's horrible to get caught up in..... many people on bladeforums, including myself, run out of things to learn about in knives, so we resort to steels :D

Have fun, use your knife safely, welcome to the forums, and learn as much as you can! I started carrying my first knife at 12, and I'm 18 now.

What I think about blade steel is its not really too important. I'm,guessing you picked s30v steel because of all the hype about it. And at first it is a great steel. But steel isn't everything. Just find a knife that fits what you want, fits your desired asthetics, and do some research on different companies and stuff like that to really know what is best for you. I suggest a spyderco knife because they have some cheap knifes, that look nice, preform well, and will get the job done. Although some are very expensive, they have many great cheap knives, perfect for a beginner. Hope this helped. Good luck.

This thread is five years old... But I agree :p

But this thread totally reminds me of my hunt for my first quality knife. Scoured the internet for a couple months trying to learn as much as I could. At the time I also settled on s30v, and went with the spyderco native... Seven years and a bunch of spyderco and other knives and I still love that one. Even if it's a bit neglected.
