Check out the new Delica/Endura w/ pics

Come on. Who else here actually likes the new tips? I really dig them!

I like them. In fact, the new tip is the main reason why I'll get one of the new Delicas. I never liked the pointy tip of the current version.

The new tip looks great. It's the similar to the Salt blades. Suprisingly, the tips on the Salts were quite functional and seemed, IMHO, to be better for more controlled cutting where you only use the tip of the blade.

It looks as though the new clip was designed to still allow access to the pivot adjustment in the tip-down position. If so, smooth move Spyderco.

Also, sorry if I missed it, should we expect a significant price increase for the increase in features? Rightfully so, but just curious

My guess is that there won't be a dramatic increase in price. That would miss the Endura/Delica's target consumer group. People who want a solid, inexpensive, user/abuser knife buy the Endura/Delica. They are Spyderco's top sellers. I don't think Spyderco wouldn't compromise that.

Personally, I think they made some great improvements to an already excellent product. Are these made in Seki?

MSRP -
Delica Lightweight - $67.95
Delica SS w/VG-10 - $77.95

Endura Lightweight - $74.95
Endura SS w/VG-10 - $91.95

They look to be made in Seki, as on the pictures of the closed knives showing the rear (clip) sides, you can partially see the stamp for "Seki-City, Japan" (the S and/or Se).

Regarding the Endura, I like:

New handle shape...has more pronounced finger grooves and looks like it affords better grip than current design. It looks like a slip-up accident is less likely with this new design.

Three screws mount the clip.

Serrated thumb ramp.

New scales pattern...much better than current.

Better looking logo on handle.

Added number of rivets on handle make it look sturdier.

However, the tip could indeed be just a little pointier. I'd get rid of that drop and make it a straight clip point.

The change in the tip is a bit drastic imo. The Delica had on of the finest tips in the Spyderco line-up, now it looks like a Salt. The other features are very nice, as long as the don't affect the price (the slight increase in the retail price is tolerable, good move by Spyderco), the weight and the slimness of the knife.

I'm sure it's a good knife, I just can't get used to the new tip yet.

Current MSRPs:
Delica Lightweight - $66.95
Delica SS w/VG-10 - $69.95

Endura Lightweight - $72.95
Endura SS w/VG-10 - $81.95

Not bad.

Does anyone know if the new models are available yet?

I really like the new blade of the Endura!

I love the new Spydies!!!! I actually like both styles of tip. I'd like it they made it in both. That way we could all get the kind we like.

The Endura has always been my fav. It was my first real knife. Before that, I mostly has "BoBo Brand" knives.

We're doing a rolling change. The Delica 4 and Endura 4 should start showing up in November/December. Enjoy!

SUH-WEEET!!!

'twould appear these knives have addressed all of the things that kept me from getting a Delica/Endura. Assuming the grip ergonomics fit my hand well, I may just have to get 1 or 2. I'm currently liking the thought of a Stainless Delica and an FRN Endura...
