Check out these britches...

These pants sound like a great idea, but wouldn't they look like you were smuggling kittens once "fully loaded"?

My pants look like that now...

I got some chinos at Structure about 4 years ago with super-deep front pockets (goes about 3/4 of theway to the knee) and stuff them with my IBM Workpad, Moleskine Notebook, and many other things...

I saw the Utilikilts, and their creator, on a documentary on PBS a week or so ago. It was a show about flea markets, the people that sell at them, and the people that shop at them. Heard about them on Bladeforums first though. ;)

I think it would be great if someone did an impartial documentary on knife shows. Impartial being the operative word though.

Hey, thanks for the URL Ishay. Am I the only one who's ordered one? Guess so, so far. Got confirmation that my Khaki neo-traditional style was on the way in 6-8 wks, making me, they said, a member in good standing of the Utiliclan. Can't wait.

"Speed. The company said pockets unzip quickly so you can answer a ringing phone in as little as 0.15 seconds."

Isn't that faster than the world record for drawing a pistol? I'll beleive it when I see it.

Royal Robbins makes about the best all-around "utility" trousers. Dressy enough so you won't get thrown out of a decent restaurant, yet they have pockets for days; even a dedicated knife pocket on the right front, complete with Velco-secured flap.

Dunno what stores carry them (I got mine while attending a seminar at the FBI Academy), but if you call Mary Ann at (540) 720-8211 she can point you in the right direction.

These pants are similar in lay-out to a pair of BDU trousers, but much classier (and more comfortable). Not quite as dressy as these Dockers, though. And i will efinitely check them out.

Thanks for the link, Clay.

Steve

Anyone found those dockers yet? If they work out, I'll be getting like 4 pairs of 'em. Thanks to gadget forum for costing me yet more money!

Sorry, guys...

I have yet to see them in stores though I saw a TV commercial for them last night. Some women was wearing X-ay glasses and could see all the hidden devices on this guy or something.

Pretty cool, I think...

Hey Steve C,
How is the sizing of those 5.11 pants. Since they are "BDU" like, do they run big or small? Thanks for the info.!
woody

About the same, Woody. Difference is you can order a specific in-seam length with the 5.11s.

They ARE roomier in the butt, though; and the hip pocket is a bit exposed. Keep your wallet in the side or cargo pocket.

BTW, where in West-by-God-Monroe do you live? I spent 11 years up there at Troop F; lived on both sides of the river.

You wouldn't by any chance be the Woody who used to employ my former father-in-law???

Steve

Thanks for the info. on the pants.
I live in the Claiborne area in WM, and Woody is just a nickname-I am not the Woody that employed the ex father-in-law but I know a Woody that owns a business in Monroe that might have.
On the Royal Robbins site I checked for stores and it claimed that The Backpacker in BR carried them. I am in BR for a couple of days with work and went by there yesterday but unfortunately they did not have any. I guess I will have to order some 5.11s and try a pair out.
thanks
woody

That business I referred to is(was?) in West Monroe on Stella Street, FWIW. I had a house in Darbonne Hills when I lived there on the west side. Got an aunt on Nelson-Defreese Road, so I know your area.

Yes, the Backpacker here does carry them, but you would have paid retail plus ten. That place is the ultimate Yuppie store, and it gouges those idiots daily. Be glad they were out of stock...<G>
