I was thinking of purchasing a knife from Chestnut Ridge Knife Shop, but was just wondering what kind of feedback they get... Any problems? Reasons to avoid them?

Big fan here. Have ordered from them on several occasions and never had a single problem. If you have any problem whatsoever just call over there and they will take care of it immediately. Truly exceptional customer service.

The only prob could be the inventory accuracy. Once, a knife was out of stock, I had to wait two weeks to get it. No big deal, if you're not in a hurry. Call, and speak to them if there is a concern about their inventory. Otherwise, a great store, they have some unique semi-custom Ranger, Ontario, and Beckers. I got their BK-2 with black micarta and custom kydex. Their kydex is thick, nicely formed, and their scales were just what I wanted.

Tom is the owner, and he is a first rate vendor (and a heck of a nice guy, too!) from whom I have bought several knives. I can't say enough good things about my experiences with him.

I'll move it. Next time, use the Report Post triangle in the lower left of your post and ask the mods for a move. :)

And I'll give Chestnut Ridge another thumbs-up.

Yeh like foxx said there's a big difference between what the inventory says on the webpage vs what they actually have in stock. Granted im sure they can't update everytime they sell a blade but I order a bk2 and an esee 5 and both said more that 5 in quantity available only to get a two week backorder email. But as far as shipping and packaging and quality top notch

I called them on a knife and they answered my questions with no problem. They were also very nice and knife was in my hands within 3 days. I would recomend them.

I wish I haden't seen this post. I went to their web site and ended up purchasing two knives for a lot less than i have seen them for anywhere else. I had a problem with the online and called them and they were very helpful and friendly and my knives are shipping today. I am impressed and pleased.

While I have no major issues with them I did find that it took long for them to ship out the knife I ordered.
Probably a backordered item.

Other than that no issues for me.

They just opened a retail store in Latrobe PA a few months back, so now I can actually stop in and look at what they have first-hand. I bought an ESEE 4 in the shop. They were very nice to deal with in person.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out the next time I'm in the area.

Inventory posted on their site is not accurate, showed that they had 3 in stock of the knife I ordered, the next day I received an e-mail that simply stated "Thank you for your order. This knife is currently on back order and will ship asap." I e-mailed him back letting him know about my disappointment with the misleading advertising and asked for an estimated shipping date as ASAP means absolutely nothing, I did not receive a reply so I cancelled my order. I did receive a prompt acknowledgement of that cancellation, no apologies, no explanation, just the acknowledgement of the cancellation. They still haven't updated the quantities on that knife. I will take my business elsewhere.

I wouldn't order from them unless I called first and made sure they had what I wanted in stock. It's funny their website shows 12 in stock, but they are out of stock after I send them my money. Happened twice.

Yep, I ordered two knives august 11th, and have yet to receive word of shipping. I called them, the lady told me the BK2 was back ordered. I called o ce a week since then, with no change in excuse. Last week I ripped on Kabar via twitter about their back ordered bk2 knives and they said bk2 has not been backordered for some time. I called again and they told me this week they will ship likely. Well guess what? Nothing so far; almost a month. I am pretty disgusted with the whole deal right now. The real burner is that they wasted no time billing me. What do I do? I ordered a second order shortly after the first one and it is on it's way; I figured priority mail was faster, but two weeks so far. So I have over 600 bucks tied up in this website, with no knives to show for it. I am patient but this is frustrating.

I order a $60 S&W flashlight that came with an unusually large box and didn't know what they were think but they decided to ship it in one of those super large flat rate priority boxes which was about 2/3 or 3/4 empty. On top of that costed about $30.
