Chicago Knife Works?

Ordered from them for the first time recently. Only minor complaint is that it took 6 business days to ship. 10 days from time of order until I received package. I feel I need to cut them some slack tho due to the 'rona virus. Even Amazon shipping is WAY slower than it is during normal times.

With a credit card. My next step is to see if the credit company will intercede.
You have the piece of mind that the credit card issuer will refund your money. Give them a little more time, they have a good rep and times “challenging “.

The thing that bothers me is no response to emails or phone calls. But Chicago came through, my knife arrived unannounced in today's mail. All's well that ends well.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience buying from Chicago Knife Works? I would like to order several knives and I see that they seem to have the best prices around, but also rather high shipping costs. Any bad experiences with them?
I ordered a blade from them for $107 about ten days ago, they took my order and my money and seven days later still no ship, website indicated “ processing order”. I called them and they said the item was out of stock. It showed in stock when I ordered it. They claimed they emailed me on 7-29, but nothing showed in my email, nothing in spam folder either. That was my first and last order with Chicago knife works.

I have purchased a fair amount from them (via amazon) and the only issue I have ever had was a few years ago they listed a bunch of high quality pieces for dirt cheap, but never shipped them out. I contacted them after about a week and they explained that they put the wrong prices up and had to go through each order to cancel them. due to the extreme number of orders made in that time frame they didn't get around to cancelling all the orders. It seemed incredibly sketchy, but I did get my refund. since then I have only ordered a few things from them. while they sometimes ship me the wrong item, they refund me quickly when I contact them (usually letting me keep the mistake!)

The law understands that sellers make mistakes. Hence, advertising solicits offers which the seller is free to accept - creating a contract - or reject. It is a small company. I called twice and got the same guy each time - the owner of the business. I always pay with a credit cared to guard against shenanigans. Once, I had to use another CC because my usual card would not allow the transaction because it was "outside my pattern."

That's so dishonest of them. Almost like a company calling themselves Chris Reeve Knives when they're not owned or made by or having anything to do with Chris Reeve.

;)

I've lived in Chicago all my life. I have no clue what the hell he's talking about. I transfered from the red line to the Skokie swift (yellow line) train for years to get to work. I wouldn't call someone out for saying they we're from Chicago if they live in Skokie, and I'm proud to have such a good distributor like CKW around and using the name. Some of the knives are way cheaper than anywhere else. They get ya a little on shipping, but still well worth it.

The post you're responding to was sarcasm, you seemed to have missed that. Nobody calls Chris Reeve Knives out for the fact that Chris Reeve is out and the company is owned by his ex-wife, nor does anyone really care if someone from the 'burbs says they're "from Chicago" when they're talking to someone from somewhere else. I've lived in Chicago proper and in various locations in the surrounding metro area over the years and I know I wouldn't get agitated about it.

That said I'm unsure why you're quoting me on this and I also find your random necromancy of this old thread a touch suspicious--are you associated with this vendor by chance?

Here's one possibility. If you Google Chicago Knife Works review , this thread is the first hit.

Old thread but I’ve now ordered about 20 knives from them and every order has been great. Lowest prices anywhere I’ve seen also and fast shipping. Some of the knives came with 2 day Priority shipping and the shipping is free for orders over $100. Not bad

They’ve always done what you hope from any dealer. Day 1 order placed, processed and shipped. Sometimes shipped the 2nd day depending on when the order was placed. Package received in 2-3 days at a fair price and all products in excellent condition with no issues.
