Chinese 9Cr18Mov credible or not

Most knowlegable and responsible people do not support counterfeits because of the harm it causes to the legimiate knife companies and buyers of knives. On a broader scale, counterfeiting damages the national economy.

"The impact of counterfeit products in China can be seen in the loss of sales, damage to brand integrity, trademark dilution, and the high costs of enforcing intellectual property rights. For the world's luxury brands, counterfeit goods from China represent a major threat."

I didn't see the original link but it sounds a little shady from the OP's description.

Look, AliExpress is sort of like eBay in that it's a bunch of individual dealers. Some are good. Some are not. For instance, Kizer and Petrified Fish both have authorized dealers on AliExpress. I've done business with them for years. Sometimes, they have things in stock that other places don't, have different versions, or have special sales over there that make the long shipping times worth it. On the other hand, there are plenty of dealers who sell counterfeit junk or rebranded knives stamped with whatever steel they think will sell, etc. There is a dispute process and it mostly works. However, it's best to do your research if you want to shop over there.

As far as 9Cr18Mov, it can be an excellent choice among budget steels. With a mediocre heat treatment like we see in cheaper knives from Schrade, it's still a decent step up from 8Cr13Mov. With a very good heat treatment like we've seen from WE in the Civivi and Sencut knives, it's a step up from your average VG-10.

For me a “beater” knife would still need to be the real deal product, purchased from a legitimate trustworthy vendor. Period.

There are so many original designs out there now that perfectly fit the user role at low cost that there’s no need to buy fakes imo. If there’s a particular high end knife I’m eyeing I just save up for it. Would never consider a knockoff. For me, as far as pride of ownership, there’s nothing better than the real thing and supporting the original designer.

Man, 2018 is already 4 years ago!

Not even Chinese people prefer to use counterfeits if they could afford quality, they too hate getting scammed by counterfeit product. I do have deep disgust to china, but they do make quality products (look at your phone or computer parts for example). I prefer them to stay under their own banner and have their own designs, like Kizer or even QSP, than producing for other big brands.
