If you want tough stainless then Elmax is the way to go.

I just ordered some elmax for some folders I plan to make. How is the edge retention?

According to some Catra testing Elmax is suppose to have about 30 percent more edge retention than s30v while being about 50 percent tougher. I have not actually used it yet.
