Chokpa gets hit in the pedestrian lane by a drunk driver! Please read.

My prayers and best wishes to her for a rapid and full recovery. I wonder what we (all) can do to help brighten her day?

Know that we are with you Uncle Bill. Please pass on our sentiments to Yangdu and family and tell them that Chokpa is in our prayers and that we hope for a quick recovery.

Uncle Bill- Running HI takes a distant second when something like this happens.
Do what you have to do to keep focused and provide support for your loved ones. My thoughts go out to Chokpa and those that love her.

Namaste Kaka,

You all are in our prayers. I am sorry to hear about this as is my wife. That is one major reason I think drunk drivers should be cracked down upon completely. I have a lot of words in my mind of what I would do to such a person but could'nt state them appropriately on this forum.

Just got a call from Yangdu and the news is very good. Chokpa is going to be okay and the hospital released her from ER to go home.

She was xrayed and tested and the results were she had been bruised and beat up, knocked unconscious, but no broken bones or internal injuries. She is one lucky little gal.

I thank God as only God will understand and I thank all of you most sincerely and more than you will know for your prayers and positive thoughts. You are the finest bunch of guys and gals in the world and I really mean that.

Now, I'll end this on a funny note. Yangdu said Chokpa could walk reasonably well going into the hospital but after they gave her a shot of demerol for the pain she couldn't even stand up! Drunk on demerol, no pain, no cares and giggling!

Once again my most profound and sincere thanks!

What a scare.
I was going to post get well wishes, but it seems that the worst is past. So I'll just say here's to her getting back to 110% ASAP.

Chokpa seems to come from typical Nepali stock. Very tough. I remember reading in "The Gurkhas," by Byron Farwell about a mule going lame after it kicked a Gorkha in the head. The only thing the Gorkha suffered was a slight headache. And now I hear that Chokpa suffered no serious injuries. I would hate to see what the car looked like. On second thought I would love to see damage that Chokpa did to that #&@^#@$.

:
I just came online and was fortunate enough to get to the very good news quickly.
Of course Smoke will be sent up for Chokpa's quick and full recovery and for the sonuvabitch that done this to be caught and dealt with in a good way that would be satisfactory to all of us here!

Yvsa.

this is news worth celebrating! With a concussion that involved loss of consciousness, tho, she's going to be feeling like a crushed beer can when that Demerol wears off. Nothing a week or two of rest and brain healing won't take care of. In the meantime, we'll all understand if HI isn't purring along with its usual smooth efficiency.

p.s.--now that we know she's going to be ok, perhaps we might consider what to do about this lowlife hit-and-run driver. Did you file a police report? I'll bet if you call the news desk at the Reno paper and tell em what happened, they'd do a short article. Let's say the driver lives in an apartment complex with lots of neighbors, all of whom think he (or she) is a major jerk. One of the newspaper readers notices some new front-end damage, tips the police, and you've got yourself a sweating slimeball.
It's surprising and a disappointment that nobody witnessed anything about a hit-and-run on Virgina St. next to a casino at 8 pm. What are the odds of that?

I just got online, and was shocked to see these terrible news. While it's great to hear that she's going to be ok... man, she was really lucky. She doesn't deserve this.

Please be assured that I will do a special service to Bhaisajyaguru Buddha (the Medicine Buddha) for her speedy recovery. I feel that this is the least i can do.
My thoughts are with Chokpa and your family.g

What a scare - and what luck. Add my wishes for a speedy recovery from whatever residual effects she is still feeling - and congratulate her on her good luck.
(Keep an eye open for effects of the concussion, though.)

Chokpa is home and alsleep in her own bed. She was so drugged with the demerol it was almost scary. She is not used to western type medicine and she reminded me of the fellows I used to deal with when I was doing volunteer service at the Southeast Louisiana State Mental Hospital. She looked and acted exactly like the guys who would come in ODed on narcotics!

But, although small, like most Gorkhas she is the daughter of an old Indian Army Gorkha and is as tough as nails. I have full confidence that she is going to be up and running in three of four days.

While in the ER she asked to be released so she could go to work!

Again, I offer up my own thanks to God for great favors and send my own thanks to all of you. And, when you see that canned signature of mine rest assured that I fully mean it.

Am I glad I waited until now to see this thread!
Having been many times in the position of sitting in the hospital waiting room waiting for good or bad news, I sympathize with you, Bill, and with Yangdu.
Bad things do happen to good people, but sometimes, as in this case, it's not as bad as we first feared. I ran through the whole range of alarm, anger, fear, and finally relief while reading the two pages of this thread, in just five minutes...and my old heart shouldn't have to do things like that.
I am delighted at the final outcome. Please offer Chokpa the compliments of an old man in Maine, and tell here that the bastard who hit her and drove away is NOT the typical American.
Best wishes for a complete recovery for Chokpa, and lets hope the SOB with the car is a)caught, b) runs out of gas WAAAAY out in the desert or c)brags about what he got away with in the hearing of an HI Forum Member.
And BTW....Demerol is FUN
