Chokpa gets hit in the pedestrian lane by a drunk driver! Please read.

Prayer offered for her healing and for the capture of the one who hit her.

Uncle, this may not sound serious until I relate an experience of my own here in Georgia, but it is possible that the driver couldn't see her.

One night, returning late from a job, my wife and I were driving down a four lane boulevard with lots of stores and lights. A black man was crossing the street, strolling out as if nothing could hurt him. I literally didn't see him against the background until my wife, noticing the movement, shouted "Steve, swerve right!" I missed him by inches. I turned towards her and said "Thank you!" when to my horror there was another! I missed him as well, praise God.

If Chokpa had dark clothing on, it is possible that the person didn't even see her. I know you are full of grief and anger but at least consider this; I was cold sober, focussed on my driving and still, because of the background, dark clothing and brown skin of the people in the road, almost completely unable to see them.

I am constantly thankful that I didn't plow some guy on his way to the store. Like Yvsa I came late to the thread, my heart was in my mouth until the good news. Poor girl, she has our sympathies and prayers. Thank God she wasn't struck by anyone else as she lay in the road.

Also fellow forumites, let's not forget to offer thanks for the good person who ccame to her aid.

Uncle, I just read the post and I'm so glad to hear Chokpa is all right! Please give her my good wishes and apologies for the morons in this country! My thoughts and prayers are with her.

This is a really bad news! My prayers are with her for her recovery. If you need help, then give me a call. Certain things could happen to those types of people. Things like this shouldn't happen!

I hope that her recovery is swift and complete and that both the driver who struck and left her and the kind soul who stopped to help her receive what they each deserve.

Bill,
My heartfelt prayers for Chokpa and thanks that she is still with us.

I am a vindictive s.o.b. and know that some bad karma will follow the drunken coward who did this.

Unce Bill,
Just got off the road and fired up the laptop, only to have to race through and digest this full day's worth of bad and good news in a few minutes time. Prayers for a full and speedy recovery for Chokpa.

Wow…I was just discharged from the hospital myself (everything's okay) and was very disturbed to learn of this incident. I'm relieved that Chokpa will be all right, but I'm also outraged by the irresponsibility and cowardice displayed by the SOB who hit her. Thoughts of vengeance may be petty and unproductive, but I can't help but hope that the piece of filth that did this gets what 's coming to him. My prayers for a full and quick recovery are with Chokpa and the entire HI family.

Chokpa had pressed the pedestrian crossing button and had waited for her signal to cross. The driver ran a red light against a pedestrian.

She was indeed wearing her dark blue Atlantis uniform. She was able to observed before the car struck her that the windows were darkly tinted. I can forgive anybody for an honest mistake BUT the guy hit her and then drove away. That I cannot forgive and will make a post regarding my feelings about this.

And again, my thanks to all for prayers and positive thoughts!

My prayers with Chokpa, Uncle Bill, Yangdu, Vikash as this was not a pretty incident. Very good to hear that she is up and around. I would still wait this out one day at a time as sometimes with head injuries, you may see latent damage that takes time for it to come up.

As for the person or persons responsible for this, they will live with this for the rest of their days. Would have been nice to have this mental midget locked up so that they could not cause further harm to other people or for me to contemplate some creative use of my HI blades on the person of this schmuck.

Uncle Bill, if you need any help, just contact me.

Harry

Pakcik Bill --- Insyaa-Allaah --- I hope Chokpa recovered a.s.a.p.

This type of driver exist everywhere --- that is the real colour of this world --- light vs dark! good vs bad! One day while I and few old citizenz cross a road while pedestrian green light was on --- I saw one of this type of driver showed a driving behaviour that told me that he was not going to stop even though his turn was not on yet --- I dipped my hand into my pocket and I took a handfull of coins --- the moment he passed in front of me, I threw those coins to the windscreen of his car as hard as possible --- lucky for him because it was not broken! --- he just speed away without stopping knowing that he would get a very warm welcome from us!

Chokpa was a victim ... pity her ... lucky enough she was not seriously injured ... but the trauma of the incident will haunted her mind for a period of time! but ... how long?

Pakcik Bill --- please let Chokpa know that of course that driver will get Allah's punishment from what he had done to her! Allah knows best what, when and how to perform His punisment execution!

BTW --- Pakcik Bill --- please cool down & please don't run amok with whatever you have under your bed!

Glad to hear that Chokpa is ok. While the "justice system" may catch up with the person responsible I fear that little justice will be done. This coward will have to answer to the Lord eventually but it sure would be nice to catch up with him/her and settle things mano e mano.

Keep praying, you people. The girl isn't out of danger yet! Some times the real problems don't show up for days or even longer. And YES I am and YES I will.
I put Chokpa on the prayer chain.

Uncle,
Just got online and read the thread. My sincere prayers go out to Chokpa and the rest of the HI family. I'm so glad that there are no immediately apparent serious problems. In the irresponsible world that we live in, where we are taught by society that there are no absolutes, this is what we have degenerated to. Praise God for His protective hand upon Ms. Chokpa. I can only imagine how I would feel if this happened to one of my precious little ones. Life is so short, we must live well each day, for we don't know which one will be our last, or the last of a loved one. My deepest, most sincere prayers will be for her quick and full recovery. Meanwhile, take care of yourself and Yangdu. Remember, Love is one of the greatest healing powers alive today.

Sincerely and with the tender heart of a father,

Rob

God is good, prayers are answered. Chopka, her family and yourself will continue to be in mine.

I am certainly relieved and happy to hear that Chokpa will be alright. Please make sure she gets plenty of rest and recovery time. She sounds like the type of person who will try to be back on the job and overdoing it long before she ought to be. Tell her (and Yangdu) that she will need more time than she thinks. This is not a situation where she and her family will be seriously damaged by taking it easy for an extra day or week. Taking it slow and recovering carefully and completely will be better for everybody. All of us are pulling for her in our own ways.

I was considering saying something about the driver, but I think I'd better continue to be silent on that subject.

Paul

Best possible news Uncle Bill! Gratifying to know that the moronic imbeciles of the world can't keep a good man(or wonderful young lady) down!
Always a pleasure,

Bill, I just read this today. I am sorry about what happened to Chokpa, and am glad that she is recovering. Send my best wishes to her.

Bob

Many thanks, all.

Chokpa is home in her own bed. She is not used to western meds as most of us are and the demerol shot knocked her for a real loop.

The Reno police will come this morning and try to gather as much info as possible. They are pretty good but Chokpa's best descrition of the vehicle is "a little red car with dark tinted windows." I figure that narrows it down to maybe 40,000 cars.

I am wrestling with my own demons over this.

Prayers and postive thoughts really do help and sincere thanks again to all!
