Choppers!

If I could have only one cutting tool in the wilderness, it would be an ax: preferably a Snow & Neally Hudson's Bay 3/4 bit.
 
based on the type of trees you deal with. i'd suggest a gransfor bruks small forest axe or a bark river golok.

they work fine for me up here.
 
If you're doing a lot of chopping, a two-handed axe will be better than any chopper knife. IF it's just a "chop for fun" thing, there's lots of ways to go.
