Chris Reeve drawing, something was off at blade show Atlanta.

T Tim Reeve , thanks for chiming in and always doing your best to make the system fair. I agree with you that when folks sleep outside and do the hard work to be first in line it’s completely unfair for someone who’s already behind the doors to jump ahead of them in line when the doors open.

I only attend CCKS and it’s been disheartening to see the same dealer/flipper always score one of your FCFS knives. I think at CCKS it would be wonderful if you handed out tickets to people standing in line outside for the FCFS knives just like Koenig, Strider, and other makers do at the show. I would love that and it would make attending CCKS worth it for me again.

I hope I can attend this year and score a show exclusive knife that I’ve been chasing for a few years. Keep killing it and I look forward to seeing you at future shows!

@John Phillips T Tim Reeve I can clarify John's issue. John the folks that were "inside" the Reeve booth for the smooth zaan lottery were not employees just like the guy yelling names this year was not an employee. They are folks from the Reeve Facebook fan page that have been coming to bladeshow to buy from CRK for years. They also as collectors occasionally help the reeve crew with things like yelling names or aftermarket valuation for customers if the reeve crew is unsure. Sometimes they end up inside the booth. They are not paid except the occasional beer and enter the lotteries the same as anyone else. CRK usually has Anne, Tim, Dean and 2 or 3 shop employees working the booth.

Good to see the back story on this, but I can honestly see how this is a bad look and why people would think 'employees' were winning.

Came here to say this same thing. I was sitting at a table in their booth. I'm just a fan.

Sometimes people are standing "inside the booth" because there's nowhere else to stand. Understandable confusion, but not much to be done about it.
I don't think it was the 'inside the booth' part per se, when it's crowded that can happen, I think it was the 'people winning who were helping administer the drawings' part.

Just got off the phone with Tim. Very nice and cordial man. We talked for nearly an hour. He listened to everything I said and even admitted some things need to be looked into for the greater good.

He understands where I was coming from, how it looked and appeared. And I understand how challenging it is to make it right. The stuff he has to deal with as a temporary celebrity, signing autographs, taking photos and just talking to people is exhausting for anyone, I commend him on doing that with a smile on his face.

As to the people on here that think I was here just to cause a riff, I’m not. It’s just a different perspective and Tim understands that. My hope is you can too?

He has thousands of names, and he can’t possibly know who everyone is. And it basically boils down to us, customers and vendors to do shady shyt. Entering multiple times, using someone else who says they are Jon Smith but actually Eli Jones. We cause the chaos that he has to deal with and he has to try to make right. Sometimes he can’t see some of it. Again, I commend him on keeping a smile on his face and doing the absolute best he possibly can.

I have one Chris Reeve, special forces knife. After blade show I thought I swore them off, after talking to Tim, I can’t wait to bring out my wallet on something.

In closing it was very cool to talk with Tim, hear him explain in great detail how things work, or should work. He even invited me to tour the factory. You have a customer for life Tim, thank you!

And I apologize to anyone that may of been offended or upset at my comments, that was not my intention and I apologize.

CrakkedCranium and I just got off of a phone call, I remember chatting with him at Blade Show. Really nice guy, gave me his perspective which was absolutely fair. I helped correct some of the facts of how the weekend went down. We had a great conversation that lasted about an hour. He meant no I'll will just letting it be known. I thanked him for bringing this up so I had a chance to respond. All good! Thank you everybody!

I do give Sako and Tamar big credit for always trying to improve their systems at CCKS, I have learned a lot from them over the years. Sako is one of my main guys I consult with before I do lotteries and FCFS to help me make sure I thought of everything. He has a great pursuit of making things fair. One rule that I really like that they implement at CCKS is before they open the doors he makes an announcement and forces every vendor to get back to their tables and stand there before the show opens so they can't get a head start lining up for a first come at someone else's table. Its not perfect but helps a ton and you can only really do that at a smaller show like CCKS. Idk how Blade Show would be able to implement something like that. At CCKS they have done colored wrist bands and colored lines on the floor corrolating to different makers to help form the lines more fairly. Its always a work in progress.

Just some numbers for thought when we were talking about the odds of these lotteries and the gal that won one of ours and one of Shiro's. We had 273 entries, Shiro/R1 seemed to be a relatively similar number, I just helped draw names and don't actually run their lottery. Both Lotteries you were required to be present to win, there were quite a few absentees so with every redraw it increases the odds. That is far different than a 1 in 30,000 chance. Still incredibly lucky for her and she was bewildered to have done so well.

*sarcasm* How dare you take an hour of Tim Reeve's time that he could have been using to build knives on a multiyear backorder! *sarcasm over.* (This entire post made in jest to add levity to the conversation.)
