Chris Reeve Interview

From the video comments, by the interviewer:

Guys, let me put this video into context.... it was a long day at Blade Show and Chris' booth had been swamped the entire day. This was the fourth time I tried to get an interview with him since Shot Show! He recognized that fact and the last few minutes of the show took his time to sit down and talk with me. He was very nice and even took time to take photos. Nice guy! Don't let the tired look on both our faces fool you. Thank you Mr. Reeve for the interview!

Im on a mobile phone so bear with me but was that umnumzaans ti stonewashed?if so where do I get it

Esav, thanks for pointing out the description...I think without reading that, some people would get the wrong idea (and perhaps few would take the time to read it after going to the link).

I can only imagine how tired he was. I somehow doubt he is ever as exuberant as many of the other types you often see in knife videos (i.e. nutnfancy :D)

Yeah he was obviously tired. I've spoken to him on the phone and he was pretty energetic while talking about the Umnumzaan.

He looked completely bored. But also, the interviewer got his name wrong about 5 times. Kept calling him Chris Reeves (instead of Chris Reeve). Also I was frustrated by the camera work. They were talking about these knives but the camera was like 5 feet away from the knife and you couldn't even see them while they were talking.

I like Equip2Endure, they do some great effort in speaking to the makers. Appreciate the link to the video!

I don't know that I'll ever own a knife by Chris Reeve, but dang they're some beautiful looking knives! :D

Thanks for posting!

it's funny because my first reaction was like: boy, he seems arrogant and totally lackadaisical...but obviously i was wrong.

I had a heated conversation with Mr. Reeve and he's human and does come off as arrogant a little and showed his grouchy stage at others, but in the end he was a gentleman and we parted (or disconnected on good terms). Not your average guy is all I could gather but what's average right?

About the video though - he seemed fine in accomodating the young man with an interview. As mentioned he looks tired, not arrogant or grumpy. :)

So lets think about it..........

The interview opens with the reviewer saying that there are 10 minutes of the Blade Show left and that he has not been able to get near the booth because it is was so busy.

Firstly Chris drives to Blade every year from Boise. I don't exactly know how far that is but it certainly is not close.

He sets up the booth himself and gets everything ready.

3 full days of Blade from early morning to very late at night with constant discussions with dealers, journalists from all over the world, suppliers, other knifemakers, all wanting to bend your ear about something.

Chris is most definitely exhausted by this point. And in 10 minutes they have to begin breaking down the booth, pack it all away and drive back to Boise.......

I also would not be very chipper!

He took the time to take a photo with me at blade show, even though he was swamped the whole time. I don't see anything arrogant about him.

I'm gona agree just wore out both physically and mentally, also he strikes me as the type of guy that would rather be left alone to build knives and not talk to people unless he has to.
