Chris Reeve Interview

seems like somebody who is has a very casual demeanor who is tired. I can see how some people may take it as arrogance because it is for sure not normal. If he was arrogant his word choice would be more condescending. In this video he seems to be very helpful and descriptive in regards to the questions.

I for one appreciated watching the interview. Chris seems like a very approachable fellow, and even at that distance his knives are things of great beauty. I saw zero display of arrogance, just exhaustion. Thanks to the OP for posting the video link.

Thanks for the clarification guys. I always wanted to see the guy. Me saying he was apparently arrogant was a mistake. It is clear that he was tired.

IMO, he was just tired...not arrogant. If the latter was true, there would not have been any interview. ;)

So lets think about it..........

The interview opens with the reviewer saying that there are 10 minutes of the Blade Show left and that he has not been able to get near the booth because it is was so busy.

Firstly Chris drives to Blade every year from Boise. I don't exactly know how far that is but it certainly is not close.

He sets up the booth himself and gets everything ready.

3 full days of Blade from early morning to very late at night with constant discussions with dealers, journalists from all over the world, suppliers, other knifemakers, all wanting to bend your ear about something.

Chris is most definitely exhausted by this point. And in 10 minutes they have to begin breaking down the booth, pack it all away and drive back to Boise.......

I also would not be very chipper!

Right on Steven. You've known Chris and Anne since before his move to the USA. I first met both of you in 1987. I've always found Chris to be affable and always looked forward to seeing him at the Solvang show. He did look very tired. I don't imagine any maker, packing to return home at shows end is going to feel chipper. Let me know if you make to So Cal.

Jim
