So I was at a flee market this weekend and one vender was selling some quality knives. Then in one case he had some spiderco Knives and in that case i spotted a Chris Reeve knife. I picked it up and inspected it and everything seems to be ligit. Everything was solid it also had a good edge, it felt to be the right weight and all but I was confused on 3 things.

1. I don't remember Any of his knives having a plastic or nylon washers.

2. Do any of his knives have a lock? To lock it closed?

3. Do his knives come with a leather fob with his initials?

Thank you for you help!

Thank you! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures because the man was packing up and was rushing me.

Can you tell by pictures? Is this a real or fake 25?

Sebenzas, the Umnumzaan, and the Mnandi all use the Reeve Integral Lock. Commonly known as the frame lock. The TiLock uses an interesting lock.

Not sure about your other inquires. Check out his site to see which knife it was.

How much was it? I ask because I would be surprised to see a genuine CRK at a flea market. Possible sure, but you don't tend to see high dollar items at flea markets.

1. All CRK folders have perforated phosphor bronze washers, no plastic.
2. They are framelocks. They lock open, not closed.
3. The inlay and CGG models have a leather pocket sheath, but I don't believe any come with a leather fob.

There are a lot of very good fakes out there. Most are made with actual titanium, and often D2 steel. There are plenty of threads and videos out there about spotting fake CRKs, you should probably give them a look. It's also worth mentioning that Chris Reeve knives are price fixed for official dealers. Unless it's used, you'll never see a CR knife from an official dealer going for less than the going rate (currently $350 for Small Seb, $410 Lg Seb 21, and $425 for Seb 25 or Umnumzaan - all plain jane configurations)

That's why I was so curious. He was asking $50 and I know that is ridiculously cheep but if look and felt real. If it is fake its a good one. I'm going to pick it up next weekend regardless.

Oh yeah. Not a chance in hell it was real at that price. Even the most thrashed, battered, and broken Sebenza could easily fetch 3-4 times that price since Chris Reeve would repair it.

$50 for a $300+ knife? Can't be real unless the guy likes to lose money.

The cheapest CRKs I've seen have been used and on the Exchange here. Around $250 give or take is about the lowest you will generally see.

There are plenty of great knives in the $50 price range from quality manufactures that stand behind there product.

It is your money and your prerogative.

Be very careful paying top dollar for knives that aren't from a brick and mortar distributor. There's a new site I have found that is owned by Alibaba called Aliexpress, rather then trying to connect with wordwide bulk distributors, now they are selling to individuals same as ebay. All the Chris Reeve, Strider, Falkniven and many other high end knives sell for 15 to 50 bucks on there, Chinese knockoffs of course. Now they are starting to trickle there way onto ebay so be careful, if it seems to good to be true, it is.

Everything the guy is selling is probably fakes. ;)

The words "Flea Market" and "Sebenza" make for a red flag large enough to cover the planet when used in the same sentence.
