Chris Reeve Knife Help!

Can you tell by pictures? Is this a real or fake 25?

As Liamstrain said the Idaho Made isn't right particularly if you look at the "A" in Idaho it almost straight on mine the "M" is also odd "O" is too round etc. The thumb stud also looks like it is missing the top step. The edge on the cut is also more of a 90 degree not as chamfered.

The plunge line on the grind is way off.

CRK hasn't rubbed a satin-finish on the flats of Sebenza blades since 1996.

Just one marker among several...

I meant on the one in question. I replied to your post because it has both blades pictured from roughly the same angle.

I wondered that, sorry it was just confusing because the post was with that photo.

I would hope the OP doesn't buy the knife knowing its fake, it just encourages the illegal trade of counterfeit goods.

I'm pretty sure the first 25s had a pressed-fit stop pin, so that could be normal.

However, if you look at the "Idaho Made" stamp, it is off. The extenders on the "E" are too long, and the "A" is too wide at the base, and the "O" is a different font. Real CRKs use a narrow font, this font is slightly wider overall.

And as also mentioned, the top step of the thumb lug is almost a slope, not a step.

Main giveaway is the $50 price, especially if it appears brand-new.

What tells you it's a copy?

Look closely at that 1 pic of the blade. It looks to have grind marks where as the genuines are stonewashed finish on the blades. It's so VERY disturbing to see all the fakes! I'm afraid some people are going to buy a fake and not be satisfied and then trash CRK.... 😟

Jill, I am no Sebenza expert but on this knife the stop pin bolt head below the "E" in "MADE" is solid. It should be set up for an allen key.

The early Seb 25's had a press-fit stop pin, so that's not a real indicator. The torx-head frame screws tells me that the screws, at least, are fake. I agree with Liamstrain, the "Idaho Made" font looks weird, too thin and spaced out, not the right letter dimensions, but I can't be sure. So unless Jill is doing something clever to teach us a lesson, I would declare the knife a fake.

I was thinking of that today. It does not have the CRK polished-appearance stone washing, you can clearly see the striations on the blade.

It is definitely a fake CRK.

That one has me fooled. The only places where I believe the knives might differ is the lock setup, fake might be a normal Ti lock and not the ceramic interface and the back screws if they are torx.

Fake. The torx screws and satin blade are the two most obvious things without dissecting the font used on the lock side.

I say report the guy because there's a very good chance every knife there was a fake, and he probably frequents local gun shows too as we all know fake knives are rampant there too. My state hosts one of the largest outdoor flea markets in the country, and not too long ago there was a huuuuuuuge bust there by the Feds where they seized many thousands of dollars of fake merchandise. Great thing to see. Spyderco almost had to close the doors due to people like these.

But it's your money and you can do as you please.
