Chris reeve knives :: Large sebenza 25 micarta

I am really not surprised that they sold out so quickly. I'm on the fence as of now, maybe when I get my hands on one I will decide if I do or don't.

That s the only picture I ve seen and I like the look. But I don t foresee getting an inlay. My plain 25 is fine for me.

Still not digging it, but it does look much better than the previous images.

+3 on the small 25!

I like this better than previous images I've seen.

I'm in no hurry to see a small 25 because it could be a sign that the 21's could be on the way out.
I hope thats not the case, and hope if they do make a small 25 they will continue with the 21's.

I also don't think the added finger groove would work on a small.

Inlays are put in with some magic double sided tape. It is good stuff.

We know that. We're just grumbling about the looks :p

I'm sorry, but those inlays don't fit nor follow the flow of that knife. They look like a cheap after thought - not very CRKish

I doubt the grooves would work on a small as a well, seeing as they don't work on the large.

That notch in the blade still bothers me more than the inlays, although, like most CRK products they are usually more impressive in person than in pictures. To me, it seems like that bottom inlay should be extended all the way forward to the 1st finger groove, similar to my 21 with micarta inlays. That dead space over the 2nd finger groove does not look quite right. Even so, if/when they come out with this model with the insingo blade, I'm getting it.

For me the 25 was the first CRK to break that rule.

While CRK is a design and manufacturing company that has really raised the bar in terms of aggressively pursuing perfection, historically they've not really followed this with the whole photography or web design aspect!!! (not that this is a critical component of their success, as they sell on a tradition of quality and people buy without having to even see pictures, knowing what they get will exceed all expectations and have a degree of quality that gives purpose to the buy)

I hated the looks of the protos but I think the final product looks better. I imagine in-person it will look even better although I was hoping to see a one-piece, multi-dimensional inlay for the 25 with an inlay that followed the finger coils to give it a little more of a 4D appearance, as I think it makes knives with finger cutouts look more cosmetically pleasing and more proportional.

It looks OK in this picture, unlike in the first pictures that I saw. I was kind of expecting them to use a single piece inlay like on the regular/annual, since the hole is gone and everything. Now it looks more like "how can we take this design feature from the 21 and cram in into the 25?" rather than "let's design something specifically for the 25". In my opinion.

I really don't like the 25 with inlays but I can't put my finger on it but it looks wrong.

I saw a previous post that the inlay was fastened with double sided tape. How well
is the inlay's attached? Any risk of them falling of?

They're attached with some kind of "super tape" so there's supposedly no risk of them coming loose.
