Chris Reeve Large Sebenza 25 "The One"

Your post made me check my 25 (pressed pin, no grooves) and I just realized that it was a year old yesterday. Our knives' parts were probably "bin brothers":).

Indeed they are MRaymond!!:D I was thinking about about that yesterday as well, one year old! I think production of these earlier 25's with the pressed fit stop pin was finally getting going in greater quantity. Probably because CRK (conjecture on my part) had ironed out the earlier issues and steped up production. Not sure how many were made in this run (February 12 2013) but I have seen more with birth cards dated 2-12 and 2-28 than those dated in January 2013. I personally have owned two others dated 2-12-13 before I acquired "the one". It would be great if more members came forward and reported the birth card dates an variation of the 25 in their pockets or safes. Rich has of course provided us with some great information and using it and the information posted here and in earlier threads we could probably figure out the exact dates of each "run" of these great knives!! So far we know that Pat aquired his knife from a friend who purchased a Prototype (I wonder what the number is) he then sold it to Rich who sent it into CRK for repair after the stand off screw broke (where it was modified by adding the chamfer to the end of the lock bar). It was then purchased by Mike (compman25) here on BF. One of the knives in the frist production run it has a birth card dated 11-21-12. We also know thanks again to the great information provided by Rich and verified here by Quake (AKWILD) and LonnyRS that the second run have dates of 1-31-13 and from you and I, 2-12-13. Tim (tactical 45) was kind enough to post his 25's data 2-28-13. All of these knives having the press fit stop pin. And Thanks to Don M and the other 25 I have in my collection we know for certain that knives with a birth card date of May 30 2013 do not have the press fit stop pin and the date code on the handles finally changes from A 12 to A 13. And finally, (so far anyway) we know the next date found, again thanks to Rich and observations I have made is 6-6-2013. I would further note that these may also be the last knives shipped in the old style cardboard box. Of course this little (long boring) post is just a lot of historical triva.:)
Can't wait to here from other members who may have more data to contribute to my latest obsession, the Large Sebenza 25 latest and some might say greatest addition to the CRK line up.
All the best, Dave

I don't remember the scale date mark on mine but A13 seems familiar. Also, for accuracy purposes, my birth card states February 11, 2013.

Great information MRaymond!! I would bet that it is actualy A 12. :D

Mine is 6.18.2013, scales A13 new box.
I was late in answering to this post because i had to study well all the 3D.
As usual very interesting and challenging.
I have found a 30/5/2013 with the old box and I am thinking to buy it or maybe not :)

I must have been close on my estimate as to the date the of the last 25's found in the old style box. (06-06-13)There is no difference between your 6-18-2013 and the one with a date of 05-30-13 Alex.. except of course the box. ;)

Dave Thanks for the great information collection you do. This thread is a great read. As most probably know with the date of my 25 the stop pin is not grooved. Also I have the old style box. Just stating what is prob known.

Thank you Tim!! I am glad you liked the thread and hope that you were able to get something out of it. I have added a link to Steel_Addicaton's much better post from back on June 14 2013. He is the owner of a very early first run 25 and he isn't afraid to use it!! And yes it does appear that the last 25's that were shipped in the old style (which until just a few years ago) was the new style cardboard "coffin" style box had birth cards dated 06-06-13 and date codes of A 13.
Thanks again my friend!!
All the best, Dave

So, since posting this thread one week ago today I have begun a new quest.. In search of one of the first 30 Large Sebenza 25's. Thanks to the many informative post's from fellow members on this thread, and the resurfacing of the most excellent thread started by Steel_Addiction I think we have gathered a lot of very interesting data about the 25 and its production. It appears so far that all of the first production knives had birth card dates of November 21 2012. (so far) if you own one of these knives with a different date please let us know. It also appears that the second production run have birth card dates of January 31 2013. The next date reported in this thread so far is February 11 2013 (an anamoley? ) and then the group my "The One" falls into February 12 2013 (so far the largest run I have personally owned three) and then what appears to be the last run (so far) with the press fit stop pin February 28 2013.
I must note that this information is just what we have gathered here in this thread and from my own personal observations. Again if you have any information that would add to this very unscientific and very boring thread please chime in!!
It appears (so far anyway) that after the 25's with birthcards dated February 28 2013 tht CRK changed from the press fit stop pin to the current version with screws on both sides. This change appears to have stopped production of the knife for some time as (so far) it appears that the first knives without the press fit stop pin have birth cards dated May 30 2013 and June 6 2013. These knives appear to be the first to have date codes of A 13 on the inside of the handles. It also appears that the 25's from June 6 2013 were the last ones shipped before the introduction of the "New" packaging.
Ok, thats all I have to add (so far) if you have other information please chime in!!
It would be very interesting to learn (to me anyway) how many of the 25's with the press fit stop pin were shipped in January and February before it was discontinued. Thrity in each run? That would be what 90 total maybe 120 if February 11 was not an an anomaly? Plus the first run which was either 29 or 30? Sis it possible that there were only 150 of these knives made with the press fit stop pin?? That would of course make these somewhat rare.... hmmmm.
All the best, Dave

June 12, 2013 in old box here. I want to say that June 17, 2013 was the new box style as I learned of the new box right after I ordered mine.

I had one of the first 25 runs (11/21) and was really stoked when I got it, as that is my birthdate!

I had to send mine back to CRK as the screws were not correct and the action was horrible. The scales actually came into contact with the blade and had gouged some circular lines in it!

I really hated the knife, and was just about to write off the new 25's. I was also really pissed that Chris "softened" the jimping from the 25th anniversary ones I saw at Blade a few months earlier. I was so pumped about the aggressive jimping on the anniversary ones, that when I got the the "first run" one and felt the jimping, I was TOTALLY bumed!!

Anyway, when I received the knife back from CRK, they had fixed EVERYTHING and had even included a letter from Anne stating the problems and whatnot. I sold that knife and bought a new one. I haven't had one problem with the newer one...it's perfect, and it is my favorite knife of all time now. I went from HATING the 25 to LOVING it!
