Chris Reeve Magnacut timeline?

I stand corrected from my previous statement. Do with this information as you will….
Holy Crap! Now I might just buy a gen 3!

Edit:

Truth is if I hadn’t just pulled in that Magnacut Inkosi I would jump on this right now.

Edit:

Nevermind.

This place is killing me!

I don’t think this is a needed upgrade for most Mnandi owners as they see very little if any actual use. I actually carried mine as my edc for 18 months and used it as a pocket knife not just pocket jewerly. I am sure my Gen 2 carbon fiber would last me my life time as Ive moved back to full size knives and my Mnandi sees mostly back up office carry time theses days but I‘ve become a believer in the Magnacut for knives that are used so upgrade I have.

One thing to keep in mind on what these means for the mnandi is that we saw a MEFP zaan in magnacut well in advance of magnacut zaans. So I’m also wondering if it’s possible that bladehq got the first magnacut as a dealer exclusive and that there will be more mnandis in s45vn for a bit. Just speculation.
Yeah that’s fair. Might be the non-exclusives are still S45VN for a little while. Not that those seem to stick around long enough to see anyway.

So now we are just waiting for a magnacut impinda. I don’t expect to see one of those anytime soon. Someone here on the forum talked to the mothership and seemed to indicate that they will be made in a magnacut batch maybe sometime later this year.

Be careful with this new gen. It CAN be opened one handed, but watch where your ring finger is placed. I sliced myself really good opening it one time. It's small and awkward to open at first, but I'm getting the hang of it.

Edit: now I realize I can open the older gen one handed too. Practicing with the easier to open nail-nick made me try on my older nail-nick, and though it's slightly harder, it still works.

Edit 2: But now I realize I can spydie flick the new gen with my forefinger....

I always thumb roll my mine. I don’t think I’ve ever actually opened it with two hands.

I was thinking something similar. I have a gen 2 carbon fiber that I can’t justify upgrading because it’s perfectly fine for the light duty use it gets. But if I didn’t have a Mnandi I would be jumping on this one especially with magnacut. I am curious what you will think of the gen 3 since you have carried the gen 2 for so long. Keep us posted!

Alright fellas - I just talked to the mothership. My mnandi is NOT magnacut lol. This is a time where the typo was on the birthcard!! So beware - if you want a magnacut mnandi, the bladehq carbon fiber ain't it!!! Sorry for the false alarm.

But - as you can see on the picture I posted above, they are clearly coming 'soon'.

I feel like Kettleman Kettleman should have a live ticker tape scrolling at the bottom of his signature to keep us up to date on CRK purchases.
Its not really as bad as it seems!

I now own:

Magnacut Tanto Zaan
Magnacut Insingo Inkosi
Magnacut DP 31
S35VN Sebenza 21 Insingo
S35VN Sebenza 25
S35VN Carbon Fiber Mnandi

I looked worse as I bought a couple that I gave as gifts and a couple more to be sure they made it into community members hands.

This will be the extent of the collection for the rest of this year. Next year Im planning on adding;

DP Zaan
DP Inkosi
Tanto Inkosi

and I may move my 31 DP for a Tanto. After that Bobs your Uncle!

What’s the over/under on that? 144 days left in 2023. 😃
This ones a lock as the fights fixed!

Honestly pretty happy at this point. I have the knives I set out to acquire. Ive never been a huge collector and most of the time Ive only owned 1 or 2 knives at a time so the 6 I have now is a bit daunting really, trying to figure out what to carry is a problem. I really don’t like having just a bunch of not needed or used stuff laying around ,so if knives or guns or any gear don’t have an actual purpose or role they go so rotate these I must!

I'm finally starting to understand the sentiment, for real, but my dilemma is a exponentially more than tenfold yours if you count my non-CRK knives too 😂

My bigger problem is I'm close to being a certifiable packrat (a couple of levels below hoarder). When I grab something I don't use to get rid of it, I realize why I got it and then don't want to let it go (e.g. but this is the only one in this color, or this steel, or this blade shape, blah blah...)

As far as CRK goes, I only have duplicates of my small Sebenzas, but they are in different blade shapes, steels, or colors etc.
I have 1 Umnumzaan (S45VN user) and 1 Mnandi (S45VN safe queen), plus 1 small Inkosi (S35VN user) and 1 Large Inkosi (S45VN LNIB). The small used S35VN Insingkosi celebrates the same birthday as my son, so it stays. One of the small S31 DOB is on my daughter's birthday, and one on my mother's. I did let both of my large S31 go, as the Umnumzaan replaced them.

But I have five small Sebenza 31 and I have only been comfortable carrying my small PJ Sebenza S45VN so far. One is an S45VN natural micarta that got lost in the back of my safe (thought was gone), and another in Damascus with natural micarta (safe queen), while the other 2 are Magnacut Tanto ebony and Magnacut Insingo black micarta (also in safe).

I just don't know which is likely to become the next user, as 4 of them are unused. So I keep going back to the only one that's been used already, and then I don't have to decide which one to mess up or give up.

I'd still like a large Insingo S31 In Magnacut, and a large Inkosingo in Magnacut. But that would add to my decision problems regarding carrying them vs selling the older ones. So, I've put off the purchase so I don't have to decide which will be a user, and how often I will be able to put them into rotation.

I seriously need to give up and sell about 100+ knives that I wont carry but aren't "safe-worthy", to make room for the new ones that interest me more.

Order canceled. Just no need for a third Gen is its S45VN.

I would lose my F ing mind!!!!

If a knife sits in my safe without being carried, I ask myself what prevents it from being selected. Then I sell it and replace it with something I will carry.

This is how I ended up with almost everything in Magnacut. They are all Sebbies but I would like am insingo inkosi again, as it was my first crk. This time it will be Magnacut. I'm happy to see them in the wild, finally.

ooo cmon, one more wont hurt!

I can relate. I'm gifting my father in law a SAK and a Buck 112 to make room for another CRK. I'm trying to keep everything to a single drawer not counting the boxes. "It's still less than 30 knives, almost." 😂
