Due to current German laws you are not supposed to carry a knife that can be opened one-handed to a locked position - not without a "legal reason" and regardless what size
So I decided to eliminate the corresponding feature and push out the thumb stud on my small Regular
To make sure the remaining hole wouldn't get mixed up with other maker's holes in bladesI filled it with a mixture of Green Glow in the Dark Powder and epoxy. Now it looks good in the dark, too
In fact the first owner had already anodized it to a golden color so it had lost it's warranty anyway...
Hey sextant...do you have a daylight picture of the knife? Id like to see how the epoxy turned out.
I'm not trying to change topics, but WHAT is this scout model everyone keeps talking about? I can't seem to find any information on it.
I just ordered a replacement thumbstud from Texas Knife Supply. I'm going to replace the stud on my Large Sebenza. It's the only thing I don't like about my Sebenza as it hurts my thumb.... Pics will be posted once I've done it....
Curious which stud you ordered?
I've been using Benchmade 470 studs on both my small sebs and really prefer them to the stock stud. Had to mod them slightly to fit into the blade hole, but work just the same.
The Fancy Stud looks very nice. I checked out their website and I really like their Damascus studs too.I ordered what they call the "fancy" stud. It's the taller of the 2. Cylinder barrel with stepped top. Countersink screw from the other side...
Damn, that's beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!What? This old thing?Seriously though, it's the BEST warranty voided knife I've ever had, much credit to Chris Reeve, and certainly to the engraver (Tim George) as well!
