Chrismas deals for 12/7 --Pix, Khukuri Earrings, Bolo and Great Buys

I'm sending an e-mail on the Sirupati. If I get it, that'll be my first khuk. I'm not sure if that e-mail thing worked, though. I used the forum link.

I missed that ordering info part when I was going through all the stickies before, thanks. I'll send another e-mail directly. And look at safety one more time.

Seems like a 15" Sher sirupati might be a good starter. Little bit heavier than the "average" siru, but I bet that doesn't affect handling any.

Oh, yeah, and those earrings are surprisingly detailed. I wonder if I could still chop down a tree with one... :p

Edit: I got it! Woohoo!

Ryan M, that's what I just realized :D
I just sent a direct email with all the info... it's my first kukuri too, hope you enjoy your Sirupati ;)

Thanks guys for the tips

Something I like about khuks as opposed to lighter blades like goloks, machetes and such is that you can really smack whatever you're chopping without worrying about severe handle cracks or the blade bending. Even the medium and small ones are thick and sturdy. Mind you, I practically never do full-force chops (as a safety precaution, to increase my chances of stopping the occasional glanced blow), but it's good to know the tool can take it.

Anyway, I hope you get the AK and enjoy it, and can share your impressions with us either way.
True... with the long blades it seems you always let the blade bite it, and you just guide it... trying to literally hack doesn't always end well... sometimes the blades does TOO GOOD... and you just might sail right through the sapling and you better not be close to its destination :(

I'll second that. I tested out the HI Bamboo Cutter by taking off a branch at its base near the trunk... the blade went right through it, and then unexpectedly took out two others as well. These things are born to cut - watch out!

It's a surprise... but as long as you're in the safe area, then it's a nice surprise... like damn that blade can bite! ;)
