Christian kukri Guy steals HI photos?

Well, all I know is that I've seen several HI knives that are pure evil, and need to be cleansed completely! Deans neem special hanshee by Sher, and the first 17" SGT K Samsher I missed. Aardvarks yellow handled WWII, Andy's custom foxy folly that just sold on the Exchange, Mike's 25" horn handled malla, Dave Hahn's osage orange Junge and a whole pile by Sassas, including a pair of 20" 3 pin M43's (the only ones made). Can't forget that really evil Katana with the inlaid scabbard that Ted posted pics of (I'm pretty sure those Koster Tusk's of his are possessed as well! :( )

Of course Yvsa has several really unholy peices that are damning him straight to the nether regions, including several Foxy Follies and a special chainpuri that I seem to recall (the one that Gin's holding in her avatar.) Speaking of Gin, her daughter has a two-handed carved handled katana by Bura that is certainly bedeviled.

What else? Of course Dave's custom HI Bowie from Dan K, and of course his scrimmed 40" AK, Jimmy's SGK Khadka UBE and Bladite's copy of it, and just about everything Steve Ferguson has ever fixed up and posted pics of: ALL POSSESSED!

Oh, sure, they may _seem_ OK, but that's just the Devil playing his little game, luring you in with "demon steel!"

(For that matter, not HI demons perhaps, but Spiral is flat out DOOMED!)

I wish I knew what to do about them; I'm sorry to say that unless they are sent to the proper authorities, that is someone that knows how to handle them with kid gloves, they will only bring their ghastly influences down onto the owners!

Please know that, ever humble, I am always willing to help in my own small way.

Your
statement is insulting, as extremist wackos do not represent Christianity.

I just tend to dislike those who actively try to make it known to you that they are more right then you are, and that your opinions are "dangerously wrong" to the point that you should not be allowed to have them. When you cross the line of beleiving that your opinions need to supplant every person around you who doesn't hold them, you become a plague to those who are around you. wether your opinion is right or wrong.

But I respect and at some times admire those who hold great respect for human tradition, love, dedication and all the things that involve putting yourself in an state of making heavy emotional anchor points and connections.

You know, I never actually looked closley at the 18" ww2 picture... Do they actually come with a thinnish curved handle like that?

I just let out a very aggrivated long sigh thinking of the evil curved handle high sori katana's of late. Cursed evil tempting things. They make me lust for money to buy them and covet freinds for having them. Evil. Pure beautiful graceful evil.

I only wish I could give you rep points for this unholy post, Norm. :D

My demon-horn handled 25" Malla is not for sale, although it eats me out of house and home. :p Goats & cattle are $$$.

Yuh NSuh?

That car is a catastrophe of design. Power and engineering may be wonderful, but it looks like on old country-western song about a guy stealing parts and putting together his own car.

"One Piece at a Time." Johnny Cash, I believe.

Well, I left Kentucky back in '49
An' went to Detroit workin' on a 'sembly line
The first year they had me puttin' wheels on cadillacs

Every day I'd watch them beauties roll by
And sometimes I'd hang my head and cry
'Cause I always wanted me one that was long and black.

One day I devised myself a plan
That should be the envy of most any man
I'd sneak it out of there in a lunchbox in my hand
Now gettin' caught meant gettin' fired
But I figured I'd have it all by the time I retired
I'd have me a car worth at least a hundred grand.

CHORUS
I'd get it one piece at a time
And it wouldn't cost me a dime
You'll know it's me when I come through your town
I'm gonna ride around in style
I'm gonna drive everybody wild
'Cause I'll have the only one there is a round.

So the very next day when I punched in
With my big lunchbox and with help from my friends
I left that day with a lunch box full of gears
Now, I never considered myself a thief
GM wouldn't miss just one little piece
Especially if I strung it out over several years.

The first day I got me a fuel pump
And the next day I got me an engine and a trunk
Then I got me a transmission and all of the chrome
The little things I could get in my big lunchbox
Like nuts, an' bolts, and all four shocks
But the big stuff we snuck out in my buddy's mobile home.

Now, up to now my plan went all right
'Til we tried to put it all together one night
And that's when we noticed that something was definitely wrong.

The transmission was a '53
And the motor turned out to be a '73
And when we tried to put in the bolts all the holes were gone.

So we drilled it out so that it would fit
And with a little bit of help with an A-daptor kit
We had that engine runnin' just like a song
Now the headlight' was another sight
We had two on the left and one on the right
But when we pulled out the switch all three of 'em come on.

The back end looked kinda funny too
But we put it together and when we got thru
Well, that's when we noticed that we only had one tail-fin
About that time my wife walked out
And I could see in her eyes that she had her doubts
But she opened the door and said "Honey, take me for a spin."

So we drove up town just to get the tags
And I headed her right on down main drag
I could hear everybody laughin' for blocks around
But up there at the court house they didn't laugh
'Cause to type it up it took the whole staff
And when they got through the title weighed sixty pounds.

CHORUS
I got it one piece at a time
And it didn't cost me a dime
You'll know it's me when I come through your town
I'm gonna ride around in style
I'm gonna drive everybody wild
'Cause I'll have the only one there is around.

(Spoken) Ugh! Yow, RED RYDER
This is the COTTON MOUTH
In the PSYCHO-BILLY CADILLAC Come on

Huh, This is the COTTON MOUTH
And negatory on the cost of this mow-chine there RED RYDER
You might say I went right up to the factory
And picked it up, it's cheaper that way
Ugh!, what model is it?

Ha!

I was thinking the same thing!

Dodge makes a sort-of El Camino type car nowadays. I think it's called the Magnum.

Close, but it's still no El Camino... my favorite Chevy of all time.

I'll have to get by with my S-10 for now.:D

Martini,

You've said some important things in this thread. I appreciate them.

taliban? If we Christians convince all of you folks to voluntarily join us, that would not be the taliban's methods.

Again, I realize that in the name of Christ, those who have falsely taken his name have forcibly converted people. THAT would be like the taliban.

This thread has been entertaining, thoughtful, provocative, tolerant, on the edge, well reasoned, and just plain funny!

Seems like the Cantina is alive and well.

Hope some folks will drop by now and again, and remember how healthy it is here!

This bears upon something I was going to say, essentially I disagree.

The person whose site prompted the discussion is, I think, an ass, but since the discussion has been fruitful and entertaining he is beside the point.

But here's the thing--he is urging really the destruction of cultural and artistic creations. Really this IS very much like the Taliban; their destruction of the giant statues of Buddha is infamous, less well known is their rampage through the museaums of Afghanistan. They demanded to be shown all holdings and have everything pre-islamic identified; these sculptures, writings, jewelry items were then destroyed.

These are parts of our collective cultural heritage, art I think is how humanity speaks to itself about what it means to be human.

Yes, once you buy a knife or a painting it is yours, but to do so and destroy it is a crime against our cultural heritage. This wanton destruction and the righteous certainty that he is right and everyone believing likewise is not only wrong, but DAMNED, make him very much like the Taliban in my opinion. Really the difference between him and them is one only of degree IMO.

I see your point, but my comment was actually in response to someone who was commenting about someone else who suggested a "Christian" United States would be like the Taliban in Afghanistan. My point was to refute that notion, as not necessarily following from the premise.

So, I wasn't commenting about the original fellow's methods at all.

Anyway, if my comments allowed you a foil upon which to make your point, that's cool!

:)

It's hard to know exactly what the author intended, but the way I read it, he was advocating that khukuri owners (or prospective owners) to modify their own instruments for safety reasons (demons have been demonstrated to cause cancer in lab rats). If he suggested that someone should grind the chos off other people's khukuris or impose restrictions on the kamis themselves, that would be Taliban-like (at least in my mind).

Christianity, as taught by the original teacher - most schools of thought have a standard, after all - does not require a person to change his culture. This was realized by the Jerusalem council in Acts 15, though they did recommend that the gentiles abstain from foods that would completely gross out their Jewish brethren - but that is simply the social contract in action.

I heard a story from a missionary in central Africa who traveled on foot with his translator/guide. They were deep in the jungle when they came to a clearing where they found a large circle of people dancing and chanting. The missionary asked them, through the translator, what they were doing. To his surprise, the answer came back, "We're worshiping Jesus!" There are two ways to approach a situation like this: tell them they're doing it all wrong, or join them. In the past, many missionaries would have chosen the former. One of the greatest mistakes Christians have made, I posit, is in using western culture as a vehicle for Christianity, or worse, using Christianity as a vehicle for western culture. The universal message of God's love and salvation doesn't need to be wrapped in the cultural trappings of other believers. The truth in this was borne out in Red Jacket's speech.
This wanton destruction and the righteous certainty that he is right and everyone believing likewise is not only wrong, but DAMNED, make him very much like the Taliban in my opinion. Really the difference between him and them is one only of degree IMO.
What a person believes, and what he chooses to do based upon it, are two entirely different things. It's the difference between thought crime and actual crime. The Taliban is responsible for a lot of things, but it is their actions that make them responsible, not their beliefs; there are many people who share those beliefs, but few of them have perpetrated such acts. Of course, Christianity is a faith that prompts action, so I suppose it's a moot point in this discussion.

In any case, from the Christian perspective, it's not a difference in belief that damns anyone; we all damn ourselves by sinning against our own consciences. The Christian merely accepts a get out of jail free card from Jesus, and tries to tell other people where to get one for themselves. The purpose of evangelism is not cultural assimilation. Lance Armstrong, in reference to surviving cancer, describes an "obligation of the cured" to the sick. That is the essence of evangelism: to lead others to the cure. You can take that two ways. You can say, "Those Christians think we're all sick!" Alternately, you could say, "Those Christians actually care about what happens to me." Personally, I'd prefer the latter.

As always, there are people who, under the guise of Christianity, will insist that you believe exactly as they do because they won't tolerate your difference in opinion. Such people are as burdensome inside the church as out.
