Yvsa,

Your post broke my heart almost, because I know that such things have happened so many times..

This is one reason I believe we Christians are commanded to be ready to give an answer, when asked about our hope, instead of just constantly spouting off. Our actions often belie the words of the Bible we profess.

I often feel ashamed that my life compels so little inquiry.

I do believe there is a time and place to just declare the truth, (most often on a Sunday morning.)but our general practice should be to witness with our lives, and hope we get asked about what makes us the way we are.

Tom

Tom you personally have no reason to be ashamed because of what others did so long ago and IMO it's not in your heart to do such things today as many greedy people still do.

Like I've said before or at least alluded too, "You are one of the Christians I feel that I could trust if I had need too do so." :D
There's more I would like to say but it's getting late, or early, as the case may be and right now I don't trust myself to speak of these matters being as sleepy as I am.;)

(Himalayan Imports) actually sacrifices an animal over each shipment!

I don't recall reading about that at the H.I. website. But I think it's funny that after 9 pages no-one's bothered to confirm or deny this. :D

Actually, the belief that any exotic object produced by another culture is "demonic" is fairly widespread throughout the Charismatic Evangelical sects of Christianity. This is xenophobic, racist, and ignorant. Only the very best khukris have a demon . . . and you haveta pay extra.

Yvsa & Tom in particular are why I wanted to leave this post open.

They demonstrate the best of what we can be.

Spiral...no sense in picking at some things, eh?

If I have come across as a genuinely good human being, then I have mis-represented myself!

:D

Tom

This has been a great thread. There is a lot I could have said, or even think I OUGHT to say, but I am leaving it as is.

catch you all later on a gun thread, or something.:)

You come across as a guy who *cares* how he is perceived...and that alone is rare enough Tom.

mmmmm, my impresion gained over time is Tom cares about others lives. Thats a caring man in my book.Respect due.

I expect so Bruise, Witches clean stuff with spring water & moonlight to get rid of past deeds & dedications.

Church evry week must do the same for christians I guess? :D {sorry folks!}

Its all down to personal belief I guess. Thats why its called Faith.

The author of that particular webpage poped up several years ago when I was file mining Kukri stuff off the net.
He made several points where he lost any and all respect from me on his views. The main ones were:

1. The HI demon blades rant that many members of this forum have commented on. that I'm not going to get into here. I will say that there have been many good posts on this topic by the more experienced forum members.

2, The Russian are going to invade us and have to be stopped rant. I have seen variants on this topic on many different webforums and they are all about the same. Most of them are written by what I call backwoods commandos/ wannabe warlords who having either avoided military service in their youth or by veterans selectively remembering their time and wishing they had seen combat and all the "glory" that goes with it.

3. taking a WSC Ceremonial Kukri ( can't remember the Nepalese term and too bleeping tired at this point to look it up) and modifying it into what he thinks is an offensive weapon along with a under the arm carrying sling. there is way too much background to cover here but lets just say it reminds me of an argument I got into to on another webforum with a gent that claimed his custom made Klingon Batliff was the end all hand to hand combat weapon and my quarterstaff would be reduced to kindling in the first few passes with it.
Again this is typical of the wannabe warlords ( In my experience) in that they want to get into a hand to hand confrontation with some sort of super weapon.

In my opinion this guy isn't deserving of all the attention that has been bestowed on him. I also don't think his rants are going to hurt HI sales.
Ok headed to bed and then more packing up the house tomorrow for the big move.
Yall folks have a pleasant morning.

Yvsa, thank you for the excerpt of Red Jacket, very enlightening.

As for the arguement, squeaky wheel. Why feed the fire?

Interesting topic - good cross section of views and humour.
Tom - good wisdom there
Yvsa - re Red Jacket. When I read it I got to the end ...and then just smacked my forehead and said "DOH!".Too many stories like that. There are good ones about True followers of Christ and the First Nation Peoples of America ( and many other Lands ) - they're just harder to find.
Re the web site of this guy...err.... He does have a great(?) collection of Khukri Shaped Objects...umm...why?

There is good knowledge here...for those who are students of human nature...

Good lessons for those who would learn.

And for all of us who would truly be one with the "Great Heart" and practice the Universal Law of Love and Tolerance...no matter what faith you may follow....

The lesson here is...to bless this man...despite his ignorance and his corruption...

Let him be....and walk on.

Walk on, my friends. This man has more demons, than any khukuri from HI.

Bless him, forgive him, and let him be....he will cause pain where he travels, for all those he touches...he will corrupt.

There is a great line in a movie from Kate Hepburn...in Rooster Cogburn and the Lady...what was it she said? Something about a skunk and his odor?

Well there you go....

Umm...I actually have taken my Khukuri to Kirk (Church)...LOL...why?
To show the guy who fought and killed a Red Deer Stag with a knife what the proper tool for that job actually looks like.

lets just say it reminds me of an argument I got into to on another webforum with a gent that claimed his custom made Klingon Batliff was the end all hand to hand combat weapon and my quarterstaff would be reduced to kindling in the first few passes with it.

Klingon wannabe with Batliff + fencer with epee or foil = dead klingon. :D

Well sure...but what if it were a *fencer wanna-be* .vs "Klingon wanna-be"...huh? Then what?

I don't recall reading about that at the H.I. website. But I think it's funny that after 9 pages no-one's bothered to confirm or deny this. :D

Here's the link to the blessing from HI's website. It certainly doesn't offend me and represents the kamis beliefs.

If I was going to post anymore on this thread, I would say something like-

" real Klingon beats real fencer, real fencer beats Klingon wanna-be, Klingon wanna-be beats fencer wanna-be."

Sort of a weird "rock paper scissors" kind of thing.

I guess this post is OK, since it represents thread drift.

Into the Gamma Quadrant!!

:D
