Chuck Robinson's anvils

Where can you learn more about these anvils? I went to Don's site a couple weeks ago and emailed Chuck from the link there asking him about his video, but I've not heard back from him.

Phil, this is the info I recieved from Chuck originally:

Hey Sam,
My height adjustable knife anvil is made up of (2) 5 1/4" X 5 1/4" X
12"billets of 1340 double melt Crucible steel square stock, welded together
end to end, face machined and heat treated in super quench .

The steel came from an Army munitions plant that closed down in
Mississippi 15 years ago. It was used to make 155 MM Howitzer rounds.

I machine and heat treat the top face to approximately RC 50 The steel has
2% manganese in it, so its really tough stuff.
Its about the same RC.as my Hay Budden anvil.

The anvil + base weight about 300 LBS. Shipping weight is 320 lbs.

I have a contract with FEDEX FREIGHT to ship the anvils.
I'll have an anvil ready to ship in about 4 weeks.

I have enough stock left to make 14 more anvils..(this has been awhile so he has less than that left)

I accept a money order or cashiers check

Regards,

Chuck Robinson

Sam,

Sweet score on that anvil. #300 is very cool and that face shape is perfect for blade making. Again "Sweet Score" :D

I have a #100 Peter Wright and when I go over to IG's and use his #300 Fischer, I can tell the difference in the way the steel moves, much nicer with the Fisher. I believe the difference is the weight more than the manufacturer, as they're both quality anvils. :jerkit:

Thanks Larry! I cannot wait to try it out, my arm will hopefully enjoy the great rebound.

I got an email from Chuck a few days ago, turns out my anvil is ready a month early!!!!!

Chuck just emailed me and said my anvil is ready to go, and will ship early next week due to the crappy weather. He also said that this and another he had made are the last two full size double billet anvils he will ever make.

I cannot wait I am getting anxious now!

I'm glad for ay Sam, It'll be excellent when it arrives  Don't forget to post Pics after it's set up.

Smiley Face is Sam. :D When the anvil's set up Sam will be about 20 smiley faces

Chuck just informed me my anvil shipped out today, and sent these pictures. WOO!

I've had mine for about 7 years. It was the anvil that I learned on and have accidently struck the face, full blows, with an 8 pound hammer and not left a mark on it. Other than a little rust on the base it looks as good as it did when I bought it. I like it so much that I actually thought about buying a second one, you know, just in case.

Sounds to me like you'll be making that anvil sing by the weekend. Good for ya Sam.
