This is normal. I get a couple of calls a week from the "IRS" threatening to sue me if I don't give them credit card info. I get an average of six calls a week telling me I have "won" something "free." Free medicine. Free alarm system. Free trips/vacation. Free gas service for my house. Free food. Free yard service for a year.
Why are these con men doing this? You know. Because they make money at it.

There was a guy named Captain Jack who scammed the guys over on a AK 47 enthusiasts forum. They all donated pieces of a rifle and had it built and delivered to him. After they found out they had been had, they relentlessly hunted him in cyberspace and exposed the whole situation. He did and still does AFAIK live in that part of Florida. It was a good read. Glad to know knifenuts are not as easily duped.
