Citadel knives?

I have visited their store in Phnom Penh several times, and though their blades are OK, They are nothing special. They use pins to attaché the scales to the blade, then clip them off, leaving a protruding edge. Their blades are carbon steel, and subject to rust and corrosion. In this climate, I would only recommend stainless steel. Their sheaths and cases are also not very good for all-weather carry. Their owner is a typical Frenchman, very arrogant, and dismisses anyone else's work as inferior. There are other knife makers in Cambodia who make much better looking, all Stainless Steel knives.

I have purchased about 28 Citadel Knives mostly folders, ( from DepDep [website for Citadel]) , and the quality, fit, finish, and tactile feel is superb!....better than any of the (2000+) knives I have collected in the past 20 years (and that includes all of the name brands made in the USA, sorry but it is true.) I even ordered 3 custom knives from their shop in Cambodia and the knives and service were also GREAT! I don't buy their multi-produced knives that are sold thru Cas Iberia, only the unique/one-of-a-kind. Citadel unique knives are not inexpensive, but are well worth the price. Try'em out by buying something thru Cas Iberia just for the tactile experience , THEN MOVE ON TO DEPDEP (FRANCE ). [YOU CANNOT BUY DIRECT FROM CITADEL), AND Cas Iberia only carry's high volume knives, but if you want something unique and well worth the $$, try out the Depdep website!! I HAVE NOT BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH ANY KNIFE OR THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE! A couple glitches, but they made it right every time!!

Hi "George." Thank you for your opinion. There are other opinions available on line, including in this thread.

And your response means ??? Are you insinuating that I'm a undercover rep for Citadel??? Hardly, my collection that has had 2000 knives only contains 18 Citadels and the 10 purchased for my son. So insinuation about my personal opinion is not appreciated. I really do think their knives are great,......just as much as I appreciate Case Gunboats (no longer made since 2012.). But opinion is opinion, and insinuation is detrimental.

Whoa there Georgie, you are just coming in guns a-blazing, aren't you? No one suggested you were a rep for Citadel, so not sure why you went there immediately? Also, you can buy them from dealers that support this website, so that's always preferred. 3rd, you bumped a 7 year old thread, usually most people would start a new thread. Glad you have 2000 knives, but that doesn't mean citadel knives are better than what the other members here own.

Welcome to the forum, take a breath and look around.

Holy Batman!
Some real thread necrophilia!

Just joking, pretty much every single one of us has replied to years old thread, and there's nothing wrong with it.

But I agree that it's unusual to blaze like this into a necrothread as soon as you join the forum while majority of people would start their own thread, but each to their own I guess.

Welcome to forum :D

I have a buffalo handled Citadel friction folder. Its a thick chunk of metal, easy to sharpen and cuts well. Only thing is that it has no "tang" for your thumb to rest on when open, so you must be careful.

I'm thinking of getting another one myself actually. Its in my want list.

Sorry to come off 'a-blazing', but " Whoa there Georgie, you are just coming in guns a-blazing, aren't you? No one suggested you were a rep for Citadel," IS INCORRECT, as T. Linton's reply insinuated that I might be a rep for Citadel. My reply to that was "opinions are fair game (IMHO), and "insinuations" are best left unpublished", right or wrong (wrong in this case).

I also do not appreciate being addressed as "georgie' as it was 70+ yrs ago that I was "georgie", and based upon my heritage it was then 'jeordie' (which if addressed today in that manner/text is appreciative). But I take the "georgie" reference as used, as a means to demean my character subjectively to further readers.

Now with that said.....all I was trying to put forth was, that based upon MY personal collecting of ~2000 knives, I thought that Citadel's folders were the best that I PERSONALLY had purchased. There have been many other mfg'ers who have made great knives, that I have collected and still own, but I still stand by MY PERSONAL OPINION.

No one can tell your heritage based on your screen name, so just relax there buckaroo. And I'm not sure how you think someone calling you Georgie is demeaning to your character since your character was not referenced at all. Sit back, take a deep breath and just enjoy the forum. Maybe post up a picture of your collection in one of the more recent threads. Have fun!

Sit back and use the screen name rather than using another that may subjectively demean another, intentionally or not. I have yet to modify your screen name........
Opinions are opinions are just that, no more, no less. Facts are facts, no more, no less, and subjective slurs are just that as well.
"Unwisefool" may be just that, no more, no less.

B...can I call you B? Ok, good. You say lots of words but I'm not sure you comprehend the meaning behind them. You are getting waaaaay too offended too easily at nothing. Post up a pic of your collection, I'm sure it will be interesting. Not here though. Perhaps another thread. A NEWER thread. Anyway, I'll leave you alone now, enjoy Bladeforums, I can tell you are in for a good time!

You win!!! You have the last word!, but suggest you only use posted screen names, unmodified.

Doesn’t get accused as being rep.
Also does get offended as being accused as rep.
Yea sounds legit.

This thread has incited me to definitely disregard Citadel Knives. My feeling always was that the prices were over the top for crudely (from the look) forged knives in Cambodia. But, hey, when the market will bear it... And the marketing blurb from the French "president" always put me off, anyway. So, go to forget... I believe there are many Cambodian forges which produce as good or better blades than Citadel. They just don't have access to an interface with the worldwide web.
