cj inspired giveaway.

I picked up an Old Timer 8OT from a local hardware store a couple years ago, and was disappointed in it at first. After giving it a little working over, and using it here and there, it's become one of my favorite knives. It's also one of my sharpest. I'm always trying to get a back-up, so I'd like to throw my hat in the ring as well. I don't have any pics at the moment, though I'll gladly try to get some.

Thanks for the chance.

Chris

by the way not my picture. But it is my knife

I want to participiate but I cant post pictures. Have a computor, have a camerabut no knowledge. I own a muskrat 77OT since since my youth. I bought it when I was in the army. All swedish men does a year as soldiers when about 18-20 years old. I remember a magical night with tat knife a midsummer night together with my brother and a cousin at a great throutlake. I clened the fish with the muskrat for sure but the thing I strongly remember is laying in the midnight sun and eating some dry meat from moose, rather tiered in the middle of the night, talking to the other boys about the good fishing and other things that interests young men.

My first knife was an Old Timer Jr. Stockman. I sharpened its blades to toothpicks, and bought another exactly like it. By then I was a teenager, and started experimenting with other brands, and larger knives. But I never gave up carrying the Jr. Stockman pattern.

Nicely done, Jackknife. Somebody will end up with a hell of a good user.

The only Old-Timer I ever had was a gift from my wife, about 15 years ago. I'm not sure if that was still the actual Schrade era or not. I was working at a tire shop at the time, and snapped the blade cutting through the sidewalls of "dead" tires. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to share, but I would love to be included, Carl. Thanks for the classy gesture.

Last weekend at a yard sale, I spied this in a bucket of rusty old hand tools from way back when. An Old timer 8OT. ... I thought of you guys here, so here it is.

I want to see your Old Timers, if you have them, and your post number will be your draw number.

Thanks, jackknife. I love the idea of rescuing older knives that have a ton of life left in them.

Here ...

The 8OT is the knife that got me into traditional style knives. It will always hold a special place in my heart and will always be my favorite pattern knife. Here is my 60's era one. My father destroyed the tip and i re-profiled it as good as I could. I was livid I tell you. Thanks alot for this opportunity jackknife.

Count me in!

I don't have one, but I've been meaning to try to find a USA made Old Timer. I hear they are great slicers.

Thanks for the give-away!

Thank you for your kind offer sir! The more "worn-in" one now belongs to my daughter (lucky girl)

Jackknife I've got an old Mighty mite (180T I think) and I had a nice stockman of the same vintage until I left it in a boardroom last fall. I don't have any pictures to prove it but that old Mighty mite is one of my most treasured knives....think I paid $10 for it:).

Here's my 330T. Darn nice giveaway Jackknife , but kindly keep my post out of the hat to give others a little better chance.

I will join in. Here is my dad's old Old Timer 80T. He carried this for as long as I can remember. I cleaned it up a little bit. Sharpened up two of the blades. Saving one of them with a chipped blade. (That was dad. It is a tool. Use it.) I got it when he passed away 12 years ago.

Of all of them, my favorite is the 8OT from an antique shop in Martinez. My next favorite is the "FrankenSkrat"; one broken blade and a secondary with a bent tip. I turned both into semi-Wharncliffe types, and it's an amazing whittler.

I'll jump in on the giveaway, because I obviously don't have enough OT's. :p Just kidding - I have enough of these for now. I thought you guys might like the pics.

thx - cpr
