Classic C. Robbin Hudson style, by Dan Farr

I echo the others in saying what a fantastic story, family and knife.
It is a complete knife in this respect and one I'm sure you will cherish always.

Thanks for sharing this. It brightens my day to read this post.

I had the privilege of seeing the knife in Atlanta.

Simply superb! Emily has great taste!

very cool, ive always liked the facet type handles that Rob used, they really feel great in the hand.

A great story, fantastic knife, and a wonderful gift which I'm sure will bring you joy for years to come! Congrats Roger!!

Firstly, as everyone has mentioned, what a loving and fantastic family ! :)
As Matt mentioned, that handle is off the charts nice as is the knife as a total package.
Congrats, Roger and thanks for the great story !

Thanks to all for your comments - they are very much appreciated. And yes, I am blessed with a great family and great friends and that is a lot to be thankful for.

Coop - yes I remember some of your posts on Hudson's work from way back in the day.

Jim - good to hear he'll be demonstrating at the Maine hammer-in - I wish I could be there to see it.

Although I'm not familiar with ABS Master Smith C. Robbin Hudson's work, from the picture you posted, Dan Farr certainly captured his style. Perfectly.

Congratulations on a wonderful Fathers Day gift Roger

FWIW, I've also been blessed with a beautiful daughter.
She is the "apple of my eye", "the light of my life".

God Bless Our Little Girls ..... :)

This was brutal for me to keep secret... as soon as I saw Dan working on that blade I knew he had something special in mind. It was horrible pressure not being able to tell anyone or show any of the progress pics Dan sent me. All of the really limited restraint I had was well worth it, as I'm pretty sure you didn't see this one coming, did ya, Rog? ; )

Happy Father's Day, my friend!

Very nice design en very well executed!! Wonderfull. Tanks for share Roger. Congratulations Dan!!!

I had a great time conspiring with the Pinnock ladies. I figured Roger might pass out when he saw I actually finished a blade that has been laying around for years. I had a valuable class with Rob in his shop, He really opened my eyes to a lot of design issues as well as teaching me to make damascus. I really feel he shared his knowledge generously to help me improve my knives, so it has sentimental value to me also.

Beautiful knife. This is one Fathers Day you'll always remember.

Oh, I need to have my crew talk to your crew. :)

This piece seems to have captured the spirit of the original very well....and
being the result of some cahootinizin" between friend and family makes it very
special indeed.

I keep going back to the photos looking at the way the grind on the blade flows into the faceted handle. I don't know what to say other than I am impressed by this style over any other I have seen. There are lots of others I really like, but if I could choose only one, this is it.

^^^ It is a very captivating blend of design elements, and one that Rob managed to incorporate into a great many of his knives, both large and small. The first time I ever saw one it really stood apart and made a lasting impression.

Thanks again for the comments, gents.

Roger
