Classic Military Knives

Thanks Charlie. Some ammo still included. Those bandoliers contained 6 - 8 round clips of 30.06 cartridges. One clip of 8 rounds has been fired, leaving 5 un-fired clips or 40 - 53 year old live rounds.
Thanks!! Probably still good!! That stuff endures forever!!

I forgot, I had a couple of issue TL-29s, A Schrade Cut, and a Camillus!!TL 29s Sch and CAM 1.jpg TL 29s Sch and CAM 2.jpg

Nice TL29s !! Most likely that ammo will never be fired but I believe it to be currently reliable.

Been poking around in dusty corners of my collection, and found three more TL-29s!! A PAL, a Case Tested, and another Schrade Cut Co!!
The PAL has a Remington stamp, so probably from 1940 - 1942 when they bought Remington's knife division, and used up the parts while etching PAL on the blades!! (faint but visible etch!)
All from roughly the same era!TL 29s three more 1.jpg TL 29s three more 2.jpg

Here’s a Ka-Bar I bought in the late 80’s. I always carried it in the field, thus the tape marks and condition of the sheath. I wish they would have used thicker, tougher leather on those sheaths. I was fortunate to carry it on the island of Iwo Jima. I couldn’t think of a more fitting place for a Marine and a Ka-Bar.

Grandad’s Western he bought before shipping out in WW II. He had it with him in the Seabees when they landed on Okinawa. It looks like the Shark I’ve seen posted but I never compared it closely enough to see if it actually is. The original sheath is long gone but the knife still sees use during hunting season.

Can't have a sloppy-looking crew!!!:D
Sort of an aside, but related to the Naval obsession with looks and presentation:
Many years ago I was invited to visit the French Navy’s goodwill-ambassador type vessel they had, and the crew member who showed us around said that they always gave just one side (port side, I think?) a fresh coat of paint to look good when arriving somewhere, and there was so much more paint on that side that without ballast the ship would have a permanent list. He also said that they had a saying, “If it moves, salute it. If it doesn’t move, paint it.”

This thread needs a little bump. Here’s a few made by Camillus. One of them has some initials engraved on it. I’d be curious to know if it was actually issued to a service member. The three bladed knife I believe was an issue to the Air Force once, again curious if this was an actual issued knife.

The one without the "staple" I had already owned for a while when I stumbled upon the second one for $10 at a garage sale a few years ago. Less than an hour later and a few blocks down the road I purchased the U.S.A.F. vest for $2. The vest, as you can see, has a pocket intended for that very knife. That was my lucky day!! Let's see some more military cutlery! T-A (Pictures of vest are mirror-image, therefore, reversed.)

Here's something I didn't know existed until I stumbled upon this one in a pawnshop. A WWII trench knife! I didn't think we fought in trenches in WWII. But look in BRITISH AND COMMONWEALTH MILITARY KNIVES by Ron Fluke and you'll find that this unmarked specimen was made in New Zealand.
