Classic remakes, or bring back the SYKCO 5 to 11 knives?

Personally i prefer the new models more
I'd like to compare the 1111 to the dt12 but i guess the new straight res-c handle is more comfortable when prolongated use
I love my dt12, i vote for an infi version

The part of the 11' series that was never made in a full production run was the 611, though I recently discovered that Chad Pirtle has what appears to be the only 611 I've ever seen in existence... quite possibly the exact one on display at the 2011 Blade Show on the Busse booth table. For anyone intereted, I did see Chad is parting with it and it's on the eBay thing right now until it closes later today

You'd really Love the 1311 then! Everyone should beg/pray until it comes back.

The dt12 is no comparison.
I wouldn't trade 10 of them for the other.

The 1311 really spoiled me, Everything else has been a disappointment.
I'm sorry.

I think because the 711 is better .

I respect that, but I like the DT12 better than the 1311. To me the DT12 is just as fast, more nimble, with more punch. It’s also stronger and less likely to take major damage from high impacts than the 1311. I’d also love to see an INFI DT12.
If ya ever wanna trade let me know....lol

I remember seeing numerous comments that people preferred the 1111.
Regardless of that, the sentiment you expressed pretty much matches my thoughts about the 13. Oops - I should clarify...I was referring to the (BG) BB13 😁
I've heard good things the 1111 and BB13.

In ResC choppers I’ve had Basic 11, 1111, 1311, BB13 Battle Grade and Infi. I only kept the 1111 and 1311.

The 1111 chops just like a rubbery comfy Battle Mistress and the 1311 is hands down the best chopper I’ve ever used. It’s light fast and cuts deep.

I did a little comparison back in 2017.

I concur with this assessment, 100%. I've owned all of those as well and I really do see the 1111 as a POOR MAN's NMFBM, not to mention easier on the arm and shoulder. I just reprofiled this one to 15 DPS and ground out some pretty sizable dents which look like he hit something like concrete or a nail. This one will be a beast now, I'd put this one up against pretty much ANY Busse chopper out there and expect it to hang no matter the size difference potential... even against a MOAB.

I had a very well used 1311 pass through the shop that I gave some HEAVY TLC treatment to. It had a pretty severe recurve about an inch or two past the guard and was probably a few millimeters deep. No heavy damage otherwise but the edge was not well finished or particularly acute. It was reprofiled in the past and sort of a blended convex bevel which went to maybe 20-25 DPS at the apex.

Now it has a uniform 15 DPS bevel which has thickened a good bit from the repair process to get an even and straight edge bevel along all 10+ inches of straight edge. The only problem I see with blades like these are that they are quite difficult for most people to maintain and simply keep sharp, let alone do it in a way that doesn't introduce further problems. Recurves are common but on a blade such as this it's easy to see why it happened here with all the mass out front.

Just to add some further data points :

I measured the primary grind on this example at 3 degrees per side, which is quite shallow for such a big blade. I measured the SYKCO WS slicers that have come through my hands for sharpening and they are maybe 1 degree steeper angle at 4 DPS. This means that the performance can easily be increased by adding a relief bevel somewhere between the 15 DPS bevel and the 3 DPS bevel, which will increase cutting ability.

That's basically what you get when knives are convexed PROPERLY, except the only difference is that instead of putting say, 9 DPS relief bevel in to 'thin the shoulder' as many here like to say... the convex bevel would simply be an infinite number of bevels between 3 and 15... which will actually make the knife much leaner and cut much better. Most people think that convex works the opposite way... if you do that to a factory Busse you're going to really dislike the result as it will make it even more obtuse as you round off the edge bevel severly... which happens quite often with hard stropping or convexing on a mousepad if you do it wrong.

Food for thought while I'm thinking of it.
