Classy Knives

I second the slipjoint suggestions... nonthreatening, classy, and fun to collect! The new GEC 35 Churchill or upcoming 78 might be options! You can find 38 Specials still at dealers too... very nice knives!

I also vote Mcusta. Every model is classy imo, but i think the Kasumi line is classiest. It would fit best with 'gentleman's knife'. They are alot smaller then they look on the web though.

My gentlemen s classy knife is my Spyderco Sage 1. Very underrated.
Of course, I m not that classy.

How about Boker? urban trapper or kwaiken ?
A flipper though might not be "non-threatening" to the uninitiated.

My 2 classy knives...

Mcusta makes some really nice gentleman type knives.

Moki is another Japanese company that makes excellent knives. Fit and finish on their products are second to none in the production knife world.

I must admit - these are very nice. A few new brands to me. Are those Mcusta autos? Never mind - I went "shopping" and I can see that they aren't. I thought the thumb studs were dumb studs - just for show. The pivot looks like a release button. Still, pretty decent looking knives.

If I need to roll "classy", it's the knife on my Skeletool CX

The carbon fiber adds a bit of flair, and people seem to see multitools as more acceptable than single-purpose knives. I don't know why, I just assume that NKPs are weird.

Depending on how you feel about copper and bronze, Columbia River Knife and Tool makes a semi-wharncliffe version of the Ripple.

They also have a gray version, and even a blue, to go with that suit somebody else bought you.....

I carried a Spyderco PM2 to my daughter's wedding this past weekend, clipped to my suit pants. I picked the classiest one that I have- the version with M4 steel and carbon fiber scales.

Mcusta has some nice looking knives most VG10 ... I have a Mcusta Quince wood that fills that roll alot for me ...

and as mentioned above AG Russel has several nice small classy blades ... different handle materials and options. Those would be my first choices for the price range you listed. one would be the Loveless Gentleman's Folder ... or the Maserin Atti Folder both sold at AG Russel.

Another option might be a GEC slip joint ... some very nice classy knives.

Or if your price range goes up a bit the CRK Mandi would be right near the top of my list. Along with the Al Mar Classic Falcon.

GEC! Except for the Farm and Field series, any GEC will be amazingly classy to the average person's eye. But if you are dead set on a modern folder, there are some great suggestions in this thread. 940-1, Sage 1, ZT 0450 or 0460, or maybe even the new Kizer Feist. But every time I want to be real classy I go Case or GEC hands down. My 63 is a very capable blade of nice thickness and almost 3.5 inches of cutting edge. I don't often feel under-knifed when using it.
