Is this at BLADE? We need more pics!

Uh, OH! Green handles. I hear the living dead stirring. :D

Nice knife.

No doubt someone will get grumpy over it. Hope that guy from a few days ago who likes to stab bear crap doesn't see. Of course, maybe the pink fanny he claims it comes with would match his too too.:D

BOOM.

Just saw this on BookFace.

Hopefully someone is paying attention at my house since Father's Day is coming up...

If I was buying new (IE, I didn't already own a stripped BK9), I'd be considering this.

Also, are these "clear coat" versions not marked? I don't see an engraving/stamp at all on that press photo.

I don't like the handle color but that could be easily changed. If that is the logo on the blade and not a copyright notification, I prefer the regular laser engraving. Beckers are easy to strip, so I really don't see the point of this model.

Yeah, it's the same with the BK32.

Wow, I really didn't see that coming. I honestly thought it was a watermark (obviously, or I wouldn't have bothered with looking like an idiot on the internet :P).

In other news, thats one giant, sideways engraving.

Bear crap creates wonderful natural patina on the blade. No need to fake it. And after you're done, you bury the poop into hole some bored kiddo dug with his BK-15.

As for the clear coated Beckers, they'll probably have better grind finish. That's a positive.

Haha! Now that's funny!

I'm digging these "clear coat" Beckers so far.

just in case you didn't see it.

Thanks man, I hadn't seen that video. I do remember seeing the thread about the BK32, but apparently didn't keep up on the thread long enough to find out that the giant logo wasn't a watermark. Its very clear from that video that it is NOT a watermark.

Now I only feel slightly foolish :).

But, I stand by what I said before (at least for me). If I was looking for a new 9, I'd be interested, but since I already have a stripped 9... Then again, I am not a collector, and I already dig my 9's color scheme :P.

Do we have any info about how the clear coat holds up to use?

I just saw the youtube video from Kabar. I'm wondering the same thing as ocnLogan about finish durability. Could be really cool!

The finish will most likely wear out but I'm really digging the two-tone look of the BK39...

Yeah, I figure it will wear out. I just haven't seen many clear coatings out there, so I have less to work from in terms of what it "should" be like (unlike say... the black coatings).

And the clean blades really do look much better. On the black blades its harder to see the grind transitions, and the lack of contrast in general on a stock BK9 just doesn't make them the coolest looking things out there IMO. I love the patina mine has developed :).
