Clear coated BK9, the BK39!

The BK-39 has my attention. I missed looking at them at Blade believing that there was little new that I hadn't seen. (No big thing really since I visit a big knife store a couple times a year and spend way more money than I should.) Don't care much for the big lettering that I believe is laser engraved if I have read the earlier posts correctly. I can live with green handles.

No thanks. It just means more maintenance to me. I like the new higher viz grips though.

As I understand, the new clear coat is the same coating that is currently used on the the black Beckers except is is sans black pigment/dye.

I too would have preferred that the knife be without the billboard lettering.

Thanks for the wake up bud, I totally missed that boat. And I have to admit missing my old 2. I feel a spark smoldering into a fire for some of these revised blades. Ya... I think that I'll have to grab some more Beckers again.

I did a bit of reading and some really interesting changes have happened with some Ka=Bar Beckers. I'm not keen on the huge bill board logo etching either but the knives seem to be going through an upgrade metamorphosis. I'm lusting a 2 again and this time it will stay. I was initially turned off by seeing some 2's coming back broken. Then Bladite explained to me that it was a dozen at most in 30 YEARS ! And those were almost always from abuse like throwing it a couple hundred times or pounding it with a sledge hammer. .......... Some may misconstrue constructive criticism (which seems to have been heard and addressed), for being a hater. This is not always the case and at times an over generalization. I think that the upgrade/changes to some Beckers will bring old users back, and bring in a new wave of appreciators. It is nice to see Ka-Bar putting some attention into the Becker line again, everyone benefits.
