Down in Winter Haven... Went to KFC... They were out of chicken... For real.

Yesterday i took my grandfather to the hospital.. They are going to "cauterize" the nerves in his back... To prevent him from feeling back pain.. Never even heard of that being done... Didn't know it was possible.

Sent from a porta potty by way of my intestines... Or some crap..

Speaking of chicken....and intestines...

Despite my wife's confidence that we'd get all hens from the chicks that one of the hens hatched in April, we find ourselves with 7 extra roosters and only 2 new hens. Most of the young roos seem slow in learning to do the "rooster dance" (chicken foreplay) and just jump on the poor hens. Then a few others try to help or interfere (not sure which) and things are getting out of hand. So we're keeping the 1-1/2 year old Delaware and one of the 6-month old Delaware/Dominique crosses and the other 6 new roosters will be "processed" tomorrow. I spent the morning building a couple killing cones. That's supposed to make it much easier, but it's been probably 30 years since I butchered a live chicken. Remember us in your prayers tonight....

it's not nice to fool around with mother nature........

Between the inoperable cancer, hep c that he acquired from blood transfusions back long before i was born, a bad back, and being 76 years old.... Nothing is going to fix him... Right now it's all about making the rest of his life as painless as possible. A few different back surgeries and multiple injections later and this is the LAST option... From what we're told.

He can't take most pain medications due to his liver. Makes things more difficult. But giving up... Not in our (mother) nature.

my post was a reference to the Parkay/butter posts.
not the impending back surgery of your family member.

I hate people...

Walking to my truck this morning a guy parks diagonally in a straight parking spot right up to the driver door of my truck... In an empty parking lot....

I see him pull up and ask if he'd mind pulling one spot over so i can get into my truck...

He tells me if I'm careful enough i can squeeze in... I show him i can't open the driver door but 3" without hitting his truck and ask again for him to move it...

Then he says... Cant you get into the passenger side... Then i snapped.

I hate people.

as I've said before and I'll probably say again - the more people I meet, the better i like my dog.

exactly - and you don't have to bully them into cleaning out the litter box if you have a cat!

oh, wait.......

This takes me back. I haven't built a proper potato cannon in a long time. I always had good luck with grill or lantern igniters.

I remember a time when we made tennis ball cannons out of soda (or pop, or - strictly for hahdcoah Granite Staters - tonic) cans. Hard to believe how sturdy thous old pull tab cans were....we'd cut the tops and bottoms out of 5, perforate the top of the sixth and stack and tape the rest together. Poke a hole near the bottom, pour in a little lighter fluid pilfered from your pipe-smoking dad, drop the tennis ball in and give it a little shake. Put a match to the hole on the side and.....BOOM! Man, we had SO much more fun than kids these days.

I guess you gotta be at least "this tall" to remember that commercial.

Height's got nothing to do with it. Plus, they were easy to drill into our heads what with only 3 channels to choose from - any ONE of us over the age of 40 that was anywhere near a TV knows that commercial. Along with all the other ones that will be lodged in my brain until the day I die.

Mmm already digested protein.....

and this......is why dogs will never rule the world.

Did a little shooting with my son today. Fun day...:)
