Clip Wear

Na, they charge between 3.95 and 6.95 a clip depending on type.
The Endura 4 is a 3 screw clip and it does cost 6.95 and the buck shipping, which went up today to 1.25, so it will cost total of 8.20!

8.20/32.00 = ~25% Tenacious
8.20/45.00 = ~20% Endura

See what I mean?

I never bought any for cheaper knives, we got them for the higher priced discontinued knives that bring more than retail.
By putting a 4 to 7 dollar clip on one of those, when that was the only place it showed wear = a good deal.
If you don't want to invest that much in a clip on a cheaper one I guess the only good thing is the knife is still useful without it.

I understand that, I just don't see how the clip (which BTW hasn't broken on any of my other carry knives) can account for so much of the cost of a basic model like an Endura or Tenacious.

Vivi,

To lazy to snip it out of your post but the only thing I worry about when it comes to pocket clips is other peoples stuff(cars furniture etc.) If my clip gets scuffed no big deal. I usually have enough on my mind that thinking about some black paint on my pocket clip getting scuffed off just isn't important to me. And when it looks really ratty I give it a nice 400 grit satin finish.

It's sorta like auto parts I suppose, if you built a car out of parts you buy you'd pay much more than buying the car brand new.
There's other factors involved like paying people to handle the order and pack it and I suppose some of it is just making a profit, because they are a business.

The key to avoiding clip scuffing is to keep moving at all times.

I guess I don't think of the clip being like a set of brake pads. Maybe a 100,000 mile set of brake pads.
