I think for the most part we're driven to keep searching for THE knife, the one that you can rely on constantly. I've owned, well, a LOT lets just say! over the years and while some have gotten close, none had the staying power, for me. While it may have been just a passing fling, most have moved on to homes where they could find a loving family :)

BUT, I am closing in I think on THE knife. One that feels solid in the hand while not feeling heavy, one that opens reliably and locks up securely and one that has a good cutting geometry for most of what I need in an EDC and that is...drum roll please...the GiantMouse Ace Jutland.

Coming in at a close second, is the Artisan Andromeda, good scales, handy narrow pointy and sharp blade

These are the Non-Traditional knives, the Traditional knives I am closing in on that branch of my search for THE one.

While I've come to this decision, I am trying to see how long I can avoid the Exchange section of this forum, as I truly have enough and I am working to whittle down to just a select few and looking at those sales post can be hazardous to my goal, I must stay strong ;)

So post if you think you've settled on THE knife, folders mainly fixed blades I think I am getting close as well. I know some of you guys and gals are already settled on THE knife and I am envious of you all, some find it easy to do this, such as CRK line up, or a custom.

I have a few sales yet to go so I will attempt to only do upkeep on those, but I will strive to avoid opening other for sale threads, wish me luck!

I definitely know I'm a whole lot closer today than I was a year or two ago, as the "for sale" threads here, and the new releases at all the major outlets, they don't have near the same appeal to me as they once did...

Still not sure about "THE" one, but there are certainly a select few that stand out above the others for me, each with their own draws. Currently I'd say the full sized Spartan Harsey Folder & Giant Mouse Clyde really hit that Large & Small niche for me quite well, Large and Small Sebenza's right there with 'em for honorable mentions, (although I think I would prefer a large sebenza with a micarta or wood inlay over naked ti)...

I carried a large Sebenza as an everyday for the the better part of a decade. My "work knife" was an XM18 3.5"
I figured that was it, I had found them.

Here in the last year or so, I got a yearning for something a bit smaller and more discrete for the office.
Hunting for that rekindled some things.

Good luck on your hunt but that Jutland looks mighty fine to me. You have to consider though that just when you think you found the one..... Blam! a beautiful new looker walks in and now you want her as well. Oh! it's futile as they just keep coming newer....better...ect....ect. Have fun that's what it's all about...the HUNT!😁

Thanks guys and I knew that my 'groupies' might chime in about being next in line, always happens ;) nice to have followers lol but hopefully this one will have some lasting power.

I had the Benchmade Taggedout as well, and I agree it is an amazing knife, a far better slicer than about any knife I've owned, but for me the blade width was a bit too wide and overall very light. I think we are all descendants of Goldilocks at some point in our genealogy ;) "this one is too small, this one is too large, this one is too light, this one is too heavy and this one is JUST right" fairy tales often have a happy ending, whereas I am not as fortunate as history has proven over and over again. In fact there are many knives that I've purchased several times with months or years apart, as I liked the looks and once it arrived loved it...until I remembered why I parted with it's brother before :)
And some knives arrive and are gone within the hour, part of not having a local knife store that you can examine first hand. I would be banned from such a store in a very short amount of time! or, become an employee there!

But the Jutland has the right amount of heft that gives you confidence that it is a stout working knife, not brick feeling but confidence building kind of feel. I've owned the Ace Grand...a couple of times...see? and while that is also a great knife, for my hands it was a little too wide, plus the lanyard hole's position was too far up the side of the handle so a cord there you felt it when you gripped and I think everyone knows that I am a lanyard junkie!

So here's to the future, I saw one of these up for sale and thought maybe I should buy a backup! but I slapped my face and straightened up and held off....

I'll end up with one just because of the GREEN CANVAS MICARTA!!!!!

Speaking of this micarta, it feels better than other Giantmouse knives I've owned and it doesn't seem to take oils from my hands and darken as fast or as much, some will find that a detriment but when mine would get loaded up and dark, I'd just wash it and the knife looked brandy new again ;) but this one stays looking fairly new all the time, for me another plus!

One back up is ok....now a back up for the back up, that's overkill!!!!!
Unless you're like me a d two is one and one is none so I need 3.....

Gary this whole time I had figured that you bought knives so that you could put an awesome lanyard on it and pass them down the line ! I'm glad that you are zeroing in on your favorites !
Lol you know that has a lot of truth to it for sure!!! As I do like making lanyards and lately they are shorter, closer to the knife than before as it seems to work better for me.
