//...drum roll please...the GiantMouse Ace Jutland
Very nice looking pieces...I really like the clip point & the canvas Micarta scales on the Giant Mouse, as well.
I'm not seeing the Artisan avail. In micarta with the less premium steel variant unfort. though.
Unfortunately, I have yet to own either one of these maker's knives...🤔
Ofcourse, they always have that personal touch
with your custom lanyard attached...😉

Make the Force be with you, Lol 🤣
B.T.B. 😎

Thanks, the Artisan Andromeda still available with a short delay once you order it, with black micarta scales and S35vn blade

See more detail here at Knife Center

And appreciate that regarding my lanyards, they do add to the value but often people do not see that when I end up selling.

Owned BOTH versions of the GB knives, loved them both, liked the GB2 a bit more for the guard and have thought of getting another one, see, there it is again! lol but yes those are quite nice and very no nonsense kind of knives with exceptional cutting performance.

LoL don't know if that's a newish statement but it's something that I've said and so there it is ;)

I wash the scales with just hot water and hand soap, if it looks heavily stained I might use Bar Keepers Friend to really dig in there, I do use the Bar Keepers mostly with any ceramic sharpening stones to clean the pores out, works exceptionally well for that too.

And after washing the scales I'll dry it off, run a folded paper napkin into the frame of the handle and action the knife a few times to get any residual water flung out as best I can.

Now...one thing I have noticed, not just with GiantMouse, but any knife with micarta scales, if I go a little heavy on oiling the pivot, the oil tends to weep out and around the pivot screw areas, leaving a dark ring around either side and it takes repeated washing to finally make that stop showing up ;)

I rarely pay much attention to what folks choose as "the" knife...but when Gary has something to share, I sit up and listen.
Thanks Boss ! I have handled a great many variations of knives over the years for sure! While some may not like the curve of the tip, and I am a dyed in the wool modified wharncliff kinda guy, it isn't so high that you are not able to use and control it in fine cuts. The angles along the spine of the handle, coupled with the curve along the front just melts into your hand and provides a secure grip. The area just before the edge allows you to choke up even further if you need to and take note that the angle going up to the start of the edge doesn't snag since it is put in at an angle, material will glide up and onto the sharp edge.

adding a photo just because, we all love photos ;)

on the left side is a small magnifier handle made from oak and walnut glued and pinned together with three small bamboo pins, the lens was cannibalized from a small camera lens that was discarded from where I used to work, they were used in our inspection process of glass containers. The lens hole made using two sizes of Forstner drill bits and then gorrila glued along the edges of the lens

One knife that I was looking at is the 'better' version of this one, I guess that GiantMouse does a limited run of a design and then makes an Ace model for the general public. There is a GMP8 model, their notes regarding it are as follows;

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest,
Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum,
Drink and the devil had done for the rest,

Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum

It's an old drinking song sung by the crew of the Walrus in Robert Lewis Stevenson's 1883 novel Treasure Island. It is also what must have been going through the minds of Ansø and Vox when they designed the GMP8. Well, maybe more the rum than the song.

The GMP8 has a swashbuckler feel to it the moment you've got it in hand. It's the folder that Jack Sparrow would carry as he boards the Black Pearl, to brandish along with his cutlass when fighting a foe on the forecastle deck.

Embrace your inner pirate, and grab one of these before they are gone!

Limited to 100 numbered pieces.

But I was late to find this out and none are to be found, but, rationalizing that the model I have has micarta on both sides provides a more comfortable grip ;) could just be sour grapes talking right there though...

I have my "one" fixed blade. I've carried it at least 90% of the time for 4 years (maybe a bit more, time's a blur). It is, of course, the blue handled custom that I have posted so many times.
I also have my "one" traditional. It's actual two different (upgraded) versions of the same base model - the Buck 501. Specifically, the DLT SFO in s35vn and green micarta (early '19) and the BOTM variant in red burlap and CPM154.
Of course, I still have multiple others in both categories...and, while I should pare down the selection of fixed blades, I'm not thinking about cutting back to just "the one" (at least not yet). Every once in a while, I decide I want to carry something different; even if it's only to post something different in some of the threads I frequent.

Modern folders is a more difficult category. I tend to latch onto a favorite and carry it for a couple years (with occasional dalliances, as described above). Then I force it out to other stuff a chance. My most recent "one" was the Berg Iron Pup (non flipper). I took it out of my pocket to try to find some love for a small CRK. I've had a small 21 WC for a few years, and in Sept(?) I bought a polished small 31 with box elder inserts. Of course, about 2.5 weeks later, I bought a Cheburkov Voron (Raven/Crow) & I've been mostly carrying that ever since. At this point, I don't think I'm able to choose a life partner from the modern folder category; though I'm somewhat envious of those who do.

The Jutland is a nice looking folder. Can see why you like it so much.
Ive always had three folder types, but have favorites of each type.

Work - Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight.
After work - Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2, Benchmade 940-1 a close second.
Dress - Civivi Rustic Gent.

The GB2 is the closest thing to the “one” I’ve found.

My "one" for now seems to be my 940. It's slim, light and fun. I've been carrying it for a month and a half now and I will likely continue for a while.

I have been reducing my collection and I'm now down to 4 knives and may be selling some more. I got to a point where I wasn't appreciating the knives I was buying and just kept chasing more and more. So now I'm working down to my favorite one or two and I'll just use them for as much and as long as I can.
