Closing in on THE knife...almost...

I have settled into 30 or so knives. No favorites among the bunch. Lately I have carried my PM2. Love that knife. Before that my QSP Parrot. Love that one too! You see a pattern???

Next week I will carry my Ruike in 14C28N. The list never ends. No favorites, just a host of different tools.

I suppose my point and opinion is this: There is no "one" knife or "the" knife. That is a fiction we create in our heads to justify one more purchase! LOL.

I think for the most part we're driven to keep searching for THE knife, the one that you can rely on constantly. I've owned, well, a LOT lets just say! over the years and while some have gotten close, none had the staying power, for me. While it may have been just a passing fling, most have moved on to homes where they could find a loving family :)

BUT, I am closing in I think on THE knife. One that feels solid in the hand while not feeling heavy, one that opens reliably and locks up securely and one that has a good cutting geometry for most of what I need in an EDC and that is...drum roll please...the GiantMouse Ace Jutland.

Coming in at a close second, is the Artisan Andromeda, good scales, handy narrow pointy and sharp blade

These are the Non-Traditional knives, the Traditional knives I am closing in on that branch of my search for THE one.

While I've come to this decision, I am trying to see how long I can avoid the Exchange section of this forum, as I truly have enough and I am working to whittle down to just a select few and looking at those sales post can be hazardous to my goal, I must stay strong ;)

So post if you think you've settled on THE knife, folders mainly fixed blades I think I am getting close as well. I know some of you guys and gals are already settled on THE knife and I am envious of you all, some find it easy to do this, such as CRK line up, or a custom.

I have a few sales yet to go so I will attempt to only do upkeep on those, but I will strive to avoid opening other for sale threads, wish me luck!
G2
Olamic Wayfarer 247. Over 2 years, maybe even closer to 3. Has not left my EDC basket even for a day (I use a spare wire basket from my UV sterilizer (brand is Coral UV, definitely a topic worthy of its own thread) except when I sent it in to re-anodized it a bit.
There is nothing about that knife I would change.
I have carried a secondary knife now and again and definitely going to pocket the Winterblades when I get them, but it's a little bittersweet to have found the perfect tool. The only thing I haven't done with it is field dress a deer yet, but hopefully that will change before the end of this season 😉

That is how I dropped from 262 pounds on 01/01/22 down to 209 pounds by 9/3/22 for my daughter's wedding. I am still the same 209 lbs today, and fluctuating between 206-211 for the past 2.5 months since the wedding. I should be shooting for 199 or less, but I mostly needed to lose it for the wedding and then decided to keep it off but also enjoy my food too 🤣

I'm pretty sure I can easily drop the last 10 pounds if I really wanted to, now that I know it can be done.
Good job! I dropped 45 lbs by not eating GPS - grains, potatoes, and sugar. 25 to go!

The Spyderco Endela in K390 is close to becoming the one for me... In addition to a SAK, of course! :D

Ergonomic yet elegant lines. I’m fine with the choil area. Adds to the overall look. The blade is just pure sexy. Deadly sexy.
I would name her, Veronica 😁
This made me laugh… My wife’s name is Veronica and some how you even described her! Not sure how I did it but she is way out of my league. I hope ahe dont figure it out!

For me, the ONE (fixed blade at least) is the CPK DEK1. I don’t need much else for a woods knife. It’s just perfect.

I have my close to perfect knife but don't carry it because I can't replace it easily. I have had a Scott Cook Lochsa for years before the crazy wait and prices. She is my safe queen.

On a happy note I have fallen in love with this Rike Tulay. Yes it's 154 cm, yes it's a liner lock in an integral G10 frame. It rides on bearings, is buttery smooth, it's grind is pointy and slices. Clip is perfect, disappears in my pocket due to weighing nothing. I LOVE this knife and will buy more. I t just checks every box for me. Never expected it.

I definitely know I'm a whole lot closer today than I was a year or two ago, as the "for sale" threads here, and the new releases at all the major outlets, they don't have near the same appeal to me as they once did...
And now auto's are legal in PA, so after buying an entry OTF and Side shooter, and kinda liking 'em, it's back to the drawing board.
