I haven't sighted with shot. Just make sure you pattern With the differnt loads you shoot as they'll all be different.

So the red dot should only be sighted with slugs?

Either one, depending on what you're going to shoot. With the slugs you can sight in with decent accuracy, though it's not going to be as good as with a rifled slug barrel. With the buckshot, you'll be patterning a load. Every load is going to shoot slightly differently. Different brands will differ. Different loads within brand will differ. Main thing is to find a load that patterns tightly in your gun and then sight it to make sure that the majority of shot is hitting where you want. Same principle as sighting in a turkey load.

+1. I missed this post and basically repeated what blakem said. I'll add that I have sighted turkey guns with fiber-optic sights. There, you add in another factor which makes a lot of difference, which is the choke.

It takes a bit of experimenting sometimes. I have one gun/choke combo that loves regular old 3" Winchester Supreme #6 loads. Crazy tight pattern. I have another gun/choke combo for which I finally settled on 3" Remington Hevi-Shot #5's. With the tight patterns, sighting does make a difference at 30 to 40 yards. I can move the pattern around quite a bit by adjusting the sights.

On an HD gun sans choke, I'd just try two or three good loads and see which one behaves best with your gun. Even though you don't have a choke, you do have a forcing cone that will group certain loads better than others. After you see which load has the best (tightest) pattern, then sight in your red dot so that the majority of shot is consistently coinciding with your aim.

Thanks for the info guys - the van comp gives something similar to improved cylinder choke.

I'm going to take it to a trap field lol - there is this Lithuanian club near my town run by guys that are older than dirt - no membership or anything $2.75 a round of trap.

Holy mackerel
I need to take RL's class on gun nomenclature
all this gun talk reminds me of

knee bone connected to the thigh bone
thigh bone connected to the hip bone
hip bone connected to the back bone
back bone connected to the collarbone
collarbone connected to the neck bone
