Thanks for the info guys - the van comp gives something similar to improved cylinder choke.

I'm going to take it to a trap field lol - there is this Lithuanian club near my town run by guys that are older than dirt - no membership or anything $2.75 a round of trap.

They may have a patterning board. Just tape up some butcher paper, put a point of aim in the middle, step off the distance at which you want to pattern, aim, and fire. There's your pattern. Change loads, tape up a new sheet, and repeat. See what looks the best coming out of your gun.

Some shotguns are kind of temperamental like .22 rifles. You just gotta find what works best and stick with it. Somewhere around here I've got some turkey targets shot with same gun, different loads. If I can find them and snap a few pics, you can see just how big a difference the load can make.

Great idea - I'll do that.

They have this spinning target when they have the turkey shoot - you buy a square for $1 once they fill the paper with it - they hang it there spin and fire one shot of bird-shot at it - the square with the most holes wins a bottle of Vodka lol...

Those waffles look scrumptious Fug! I want.

I hear the next sequel in the Terminator series is a T10,000 vs a LLama.

Back when I was a kid, I remember going to turkey shoots. Usually there was a circle, and winner was the one with the most shot in the circle. Or one variation was a small dot in the middle of the target, and closest shot to the dot won the prize. The first was more about the gun/load; with the second version, you could get lucky and win a prize.

I haven't been to a turkey shoot in years though. With all the newfangled gun/choke/load combos that shoot such tight patterns, I suspect folks have had to increase the distance at which you shoot.

Its all mostly old folks there - I used to go shoot trap every sunday - now with momma / house - not enough time to do that.

If you used to shoot trap, then I've probably been blabbing on about patterns for no reason. Dedicated trap shooters pattern like the dickens to find that consistent 25/25.

I didn't pattern - I just shot trap for fun - it was very informal club.

I used 30" Beretta 391 my best score was 50 my friend with his clapped out 870 did 75

Never repeated that score again :( had problems reaching 25 maybe got old lol...

Still consider myself a shotgun noobie.

Momma got the job at the medical imaging place. X-rays and ultrasound.

She be the receptionist there - three months probation and yearly contract extensions.

Sweet - I was getting worried as her unemployment was going to run out soon and she was getting depressed applying with no results.

First good thing of 2010. :D Sorry guys I'm a little pumped at the moment. :o

blakem and guyon are correct about patterning your gun pauli. we tested some different buckshot loads and the variance was crazy! one of the loads would cover a silhouette targe at 25yds(probably close to 24") while another was closer to 8"!
