the TGI '74 is great! i cleaned all the cosmoline off her lastnight and i'm impressed. The wood is surplus, so it has some character. I planned on refinishing it, but after i got it i kinda dig the battlefield look. otherwise, the rest of the rifle is new, built on bulgarian machines. the weld that originally held the muzzle brake on has been removed and the paint touched up, but it isn't the cleanest job i've seen. the finish is even and the sights are straight. the chrome barrel was the big selling point for me since all of the cheap ammo is corrosive. overall its a great value for $400:thumbup::thumbup::D

Sounds like great rifle. Cool review mang....

Now stock up on windex....

The Lancaster has a stainless steel barrel. Do you think, or have you heard, that the chrome are better? With the corrosive ammo it is hard to know.

i've heard that a lot of people are not buying the lancasters now because they changed to stainless steel, but i've never seen a comparison of the two barrel types. seems like there is alot of speculation about this subject though. i spoke with Mr. Durda from Lancaster Arms, who told me that he would rather have chrome, so that was good enough for me. he said that lancaster plans to offer chrome lined barrels again in the future, but he is unsure of when that will be. while stainless steel is supposed to be more accurate(as in precision rifles) i don't think there is any other benefit, aside from saving the manufacturers some $$$. chrome is especially important when it comes to the life of your barrel. essentially with a chrome barrel it will wear away and you will then have a stainless steel barrel. jerm might be able to chime in here about corrosion resistance of metals......

i'm still on the fence about blade, but i'm not sure anyone will split a room with me after the Ofc. Omalley fiasco:rolleyes::foot:

Lots of Horton steel in the last batch of Chuddy sheaths....:thumbup:

Mr. Night, I second what Brian and the others have already said, prayers out to you.

Pauli, Thanks for the break down on reloading costs, it is going on my to do list.

Large, That is a great endorsement for the AK, I really like the price of ammo.

Not to bring the Club down, but a young friend of mine, ImGatMan on the Forum, found out last month that his cancer is back.

This, after a lot more bad news for his family. And just as his baby turns 7 months old.

It's going to be one Hell of a fight. He could use some moral support, so say a prayer for him a time or two, if you're of that persuasion.

I know I will.
