Shut down for the winter :( - too cold in the garage...

I got 4 of these left to go before the stash runs dry - (enough for one range trip :rolleyes: :D )
 
65F here today! I chopped and sawed all of the limbs that fell off of the backyard maple tree over thye winter today... in a tshirt! :)

Which, BTW, I guess the pet thread was spared foe humane reasons, I assume.

I miss the firearms thread, I used it like a quick reference.
 
It warms up quick in the desert, we went from 70's last week to the 90's this weekd. I'm not really not looking forward to the whole 120-130 degrees this summer, the kicker is that we will get home just in time to enjoy a nice humid August in the South.

I am sure those 120-130 days are brutal...especially with all your gear. I hope you return safely in August.

LoL John Ross - recommends using a helmet when trying thunderbolt loads in the big smiths....

A thunderbolt load is a round that is loaded to maximum or near-maximum allowable chamber pressure AND an overall length of 2.320” to give greatest possible net case capacity and thus the greatest possible energy. If you want to shoot loads like this, either for hunting or for bragging rights, I recommend you use new StarLine cases, and after they’ve been fired once, reserve them for more pedestrian ammo (“pedestrian” .500 ammo is still much more powerful than anything else out there.) The neck tension appears to decline after the first full-power firing to where the velocity drops about 50-60 FPS on subsequent reloadings.

Be careful out there. Work up to the recoil gradually. Start with .500 Special loads. If you have any doubts at all, wear a helmet until you know for sure.
