For all you cats that don't know whAt to do with the front legs of a deer...remove the 'ankle' smoke at 220 for 3 hrs and enjoy. I doubted....but it's probably my new favorite way to eat venison.

I'll have to try that. I've had smoked deer ribs and they were great:thumbup:

So, which part of the front leg? The whole leg? Deer season is comin, can't wait. :)

I suppose it would be the humerous radius and ulna...

You are talking about Eastern European chicks right?

Yeah baby, shot me a male yote this morning. Unfortunately, I educated his partner.

Got permission to hunt a guys property. I've been seeing them on the property, on my way to find fatwood. Sorry Brian, I got side tracked. :o

Anyway, I went out there this morning, staked the field out. Didn't take long, a male come walking out. Kind of small, maybe a pup. I don't have a range finder, I figure it was around 200 yds. Put the crosshairs high on his back, dropped him.

Well, then I started doing the puppy death cry with my call. I saw another run back into the trees. It must have been following the brush line, out of sight. I kept calling, hoping it would come back out. After a few minutes, I heard it coming towards me thru the brush. Well the damn thing was almost in my lap. It's amazing how they can pinpoint a sound, and find you.

It came in from the worst possible direction it could. I got my rifle up to shoot, couldn't see anything. Sun was right in my scope. Thing was 20 ft from me, I couldn't see it in the scope. Needless to say, it didn't hang around long.

I guess I should have brought a shotgun too. But I didn't expect to get one that close. That's what makes coyote hunting so exciting. :D

Of course I left the camera at home again,, :(

I know there's a thread just for this, but ...

Keep a good thought going for Jack, would you?:)

He's got a very demanding job -- running the Camden Compound can't be easy.:D

Kurt congrats!!! Coyote hunting is very addicting. As you found out if you can bring a shotgun loaded with 4 buck.A lot of times liike you said they pin point the sound and sneak right up on you and you only have a split second to react. The 4 buck is good out to 50 yards.

Thanks mang. Yes, it can be very addicting. I knew the puppy ki yi was supposed to work pretty good this time of year. Thats the first time it worked that well for me. I will bring a shotgun next time. :)

Nice Trog. What are pelts going for out there?

Not sure mang, think its a bit early for pelt yet. This guy lost more than a few calves last year, from the yotes. Yotes are pretty thick in there. Just doin my part to help out. If I can get a few more, might help me get some more private land to hunt. :)
