Coal Creek Forge Hammer Poll's

I got mine today from Steve. It's gorgeous. I'm in the process of making a kydex sheath, then its getting attached to my duty bag so it can ride shotgun in my cruiser.

I'm very impressed.

Nice Hawk...Do you know what the weight is on that and is it poll heavy? Should not have wandered to the hawk forum...now I need one:D

The weight on this one Is right at 16 OZ.'s It seem's to be a perfect balance In my hand, I know what you mean by Poll heavy I have a Cold Steel Rifleman's Hawk and It Is way out of balance In my hand,

Thanks...Looks like I'll have to put it on the list.:D

Picked up one of Steve's jack hammer bit poll hawks while he still had a few left. He did a great job on it. Its a nice addition to my collection.
Did a little para cord wrap under the head and capped off the handle with a small piece of Ebony.
Thanks Steve very nice work .....

I just recieved my tomahawk this morning and it is a beauty. Wish I could post pics.

The head weighs in at 15 oz. and with the handle the whole hawk weighs right at 24 oz.

Very nice work Steve.

Steve,

I took my poll to work today (when you're an archy, work is a long hike in beautiful, if not somewhat steep, places) and threw it at a juniper during lunch. I noticed after a couple of throws it the head gets loose. What is a good way to combat this?

Slam it down on a stump or a flat rock and re-set the head, this is why the excess handle is left above the head.(it's a built in wear factor) you guy's cutting the excess off should'nt do this until you have the handle completley seated to the head, the interference fit between the head and the handle is there for this reason, that why you alway's see me use an old handle in my field test's.Glad you bought that subject up i'll start listing that point in future post's ursusrubrum.

I usually put mine in a vise handle down. Dont tighten the vise just rest the head on both sides of the vise. Then take another piece of wood and place it over the top of the handle to protect it, and hit it with a hammer. It sets the handle in nice and tight.
