code 3 is out of control......

Strobengh, there is so much confusion in your post I don't think I have time to address all of it.... There is no company here, no customers, no employees. There is a forum (that is run at a loss), members who support the forum, and moderators who also support the forum. Someone has already apologized to valleytinworks, as you will see if you read the thread. He has not reciprocated....

I stand corrected.

My post was simply me expressing my thoughts, and not pointing at anyone/anything in particular.
But I guess my point about moderators being held to a higher standard was wrong, and for that I apologize.

Now, imagine how I would feel if this is what you said:
Strobengh, thank you for your comments. While I don't necessarily agree with everything you said, I do appreciate your comments and will consider them in the future.
We're glad you are here, and hope you continue to participate in BladeForums

Spark's words are true for both sides: You get more flies with honey than vinegar.

I can't speak for everything VTW has done, b/c I'm not privy to all the information, but I'm sure that he doesn't have clean hands in this deal.
But that wasn't my point.

People pay money to this site for services (members, knife makers, manufacturers, sellers, etc . . .), and services are provided.
If that isn't a company, I don't know what is.
I'm sure it is more of a labor of love than anything, but to the people paying, or considering paying, their dues, that subtle distinction is lost on them.

To people paying, it's a company, and they have the right to expect that employees of the company treat them with respect, whether they are being a "hot head", or whether they are expressing their own opinion in a post full of "so much confusion" that you don't know where to start.

I really like this place. For the most part, everyone treats each other with civility and respect, and it's a place which is (parts of it) free of profanity and other "less wholesome" contents.
I truly appreciate that.
My post was simply me expressing my personal opinions about the site, hoping that my opinions would be seen as a positive contribution which would help to keep this site a great place.

If that is now how my comments were received, I apologize.

It's possible, but I think it's more likely you don't know what Bladeforums is. Bladeforums is a club, a bunch of knife knuts who get together and talk about knives, and also buy and sell and trade knives among ourselves. Bladeforums has members, who pay dues to help with the expenses involved in keeping the club going. A few of the best known and most respected members volunteer to moderate forums.

A company is an incorporated organization that sells products or services. Customers are people who pay to buy products or services. Employees are people who are paid for their work. None of those exist here.

Sometimes people come here who don't really want to belong to a club, don't want to contribute anything to the discussion, just want to use the club to exploit the members. I kicked two of those people out this morning, as you'll see if you look in Sticky:Walking the Plank in April. They keep us pretty busy....

I imagine you would feel I was acting like some smarmy salesperson trying to butter you up with a lot of meaningless insincerity for the purpose of selling you something. That's the way I feel when someone says something like that to me....

Strobengh - the customer isn't always right, period. If a customer came into a bar and wanted a $10 drink for $1, they aren't right. If a customer comes into a bar, and decides that the middle of the bar is a great place to void their bowels, they aren't right. If they want to pick fights with the bouncers, they aren't right.

ValleyTinWorks got wrapped around the handle for something that, quite frankly wasn't worth being upset over. He got a 1 point infraction (in error, admittedly), and went ballistic. Code 3 made a mistake, but ValleyTinWorks is just as responsible for his behavior after it.

He's apparrently decided to leave and not come back. His choice. He's also said he's going to charge back his membership, again his choice. Personally, I don't take well to extortion & threats, so at this point I'm done with him, because he's wasted a lot of my time for no good reason, especially after I've bent over backwards to try to work with him and get this resolved.

Paying for a membership does not mean you get to break the rules or act like a jackass. We give people lots of leeway, give warnings, and give infractions before we outright ban them. If they want to work with us, we'll do whatever we can to make sure everyone ends up happy; but the facts remain that this is my website, and I've set the rules for being here. If you can't work with me, you are welcome to not come back.

i apologize for selling amy-0's airbags on the forum to jaxx, although they were busse knife related they were kind of sensual... at least till jaxx ate them...

Cougar is a customer-oriented mofo ! :D

This is way the world is so much nicer when there is just slightly more supply than demand. :D

Is there a list of who the moderators are? "Steinbrenners Hit Man", "Code 3" and so forth doesn't really tell you anything about who's a moderator and who isn't.

Besides, out of all the years Ive been here, I've never been given infraction points.:p :D

I don't know if I have Infraction Points or if I've ever had them. I never heard of them before this thread. How long has this been going on?
Someone mentioned to look under User CP for infraction points, but I don't see where they would be. If I don't have any does that mean I've never broke a rule or pissed off Spark or one of the Mods? I would find this very surprising.

Nobody asked me, but you know what I think should be an Infraction is the people that use the Font Size about the size of fly sheet, castration would be too good for those twisted sickos.

When you get an infraction you get a PM saying why, what thread, and when. Since it takes 50 points to get banned, and most of the infractions are 1 point or so, getting pissed about an expiring infraction seems like a waste.

Phil;

You do not have any infractions, and because of how you post and operate, you probably won't ever get any.

:)

Too bad this thing went so sideways and South. Even if I don't totally agree with any side at all times, I'm glad to see the mod man-up in regards to mistakes instead of taking the usual condescending tone that some others do. Lord knows, those with people skills like mine don't need to be given good ol' fashioned, flesh and bone cyber authority.;)

Spark, you are the picture of patience in these matters. I find this place worth paying for, Thanks.

Spark,

This attitude you have is the exact reason why I am no longer a paying member on your website.

RJD

Uh, can someone enlighten me as to exactly who's website it is if it isn't Spark's?

I know it's not mine. I didn't get the bill from the hosting people this month.
