Burlsource, I wish!!! I wish I had the collateral up front to buy like a 3' by 6' burl-y cross section cut of tree, would love to make a big dinner table!
Sam - I have a couple pieces of white oak with awesome ray flake, but no burl. Shipping would kill you, but I'm willing to talk. roughly 28"x 11'x 4" thick. Been air drying for 4 or 5 years, and each still weighs 1/2 a ton.
When I slabbed the tree (storm kill) I cut several 2" thick boards, then a pair of bookmatched 4" thick out of the center before going back to a 2" thickness.
I used some of the smaller boards out of this tree for stair treads and an 8' long natural edge breakfast bar in my house.
