Coffee

^^^It looks like your coffee is getting close! Unfortunately you won't get it till Tuesday due to the holiday tomorrow.

A good knife and some freshly roasted coffee. I think this is the most even roast I've done so far. It's the Breakfast Blend from that sampler pack I picked up recently. They don't specify the type of beans, but apparently it's a blend from 3 different regions.

My favorite little home town espresso joint.
Decent double espresso pull...and my new Vault Boy scales.

A coffee bar opened up a mile from my house so I stopped by. They exclusively use Intelligentsia beans. I'm gonna get an espresso to go but tried a pour over, the single origin has that fruity grassy thing going on.

Super likeable.

Update: espresso was one of the worst I've ever had. Flavor of burnt sour cherries and cough syrup.

Update 2: I emailed the coffee bar owner and they said they are still dialing in their machine.

Some Tanzanian Peaberry coffee beans from Amazon(example of bag it comes in next to the storage container, but that one has Guatemala Antigua) with my Custom Nirk Tighe in M390.

I use a steel filter for the coffee, but it isn't dripped as I use an electric air pot for hot water at any time. Coarse ground coffee drains too quickly this way, but it works out if I grind it super-fine.

Costa Rican peaberry is still nicer than any pre-ground coffee in your local grocery stores, but it's too acidic for my taste. The Tanzanian is just right(so far). Haven't tried the Antigua or Peet's Major Dickason's Blend as of yet(didn't want too many bags open at the same time), but I'm looking forward to them:thumbup:.

For you guys that know way more than I do......
What is the light colored flakes in this coffee? It seems I only get it from the Ethiopian stuff.

Good call Danny! The article pretty much says it all, except that some coffees have a LOT more chaff than others. Ethiopians seem to have more in my experience.

Did a little roasting tonight... :D

Look at all the chaff to the left of my roaster. The bulk of it comes off during the roasting process, and it can get messy!

Coffee exchange stuff should be here tomorrow!!! :D :D :D

Monofletch, Hope you enjoyed the rest. Good Luck at the knee doctor. Yes, I like my mailman...alot.
SpyderPhreak , That looks like a pretty nice roaster.

Coffee came in today Sulawesi, Panama, Kenya and an unmarked one. Can't wait to brew some up later!

In east coast specifically PA and NJ there is a quick mart called WAWA they have the best coffee imo for us here. Of course you have the DD and Starbucks but DD is often stale in my experience and Starbucks is too strong not to mention too pricey. WAWA Columbian is a best, just the kick you would need in the AM or anytime for that matter.

It's a "vintage" West Bend Poppery (late 70's), that I've hot-rodded. I split up the heater and fan circuits, and run the fan with a ceiling fan speed controller attached to a boost transformer. With it set up like that, I can run the fan at up to +18v boost, or down to -25v buck (lower than you'd ever want to go).

Unmarked? I wrote on all the bags.

If for some reason it got wiped off, the fourth one is a Brazil, 100% Yellow Bourbon. Here are links to each of the coffees:

The Kenya and Brazil are roasted to Full City, and the Panama and Sulawesi are roasted a bit lighter to between City and City+. There's not a huge color difference, but about a shade or two difference on the color cards. Note the difference in bean size between the Kenya and the Sulawesi! 15 screen vs. 18 screen.

There should be about 9 oz. of each. Hope you enjoy them!!!

The mail lady just went down the other side of my street, so mine should be here in about 15 minutes!!! :D

ETA - It's here!!!! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
