Coffee

To fine can mess up a lot of brewing processes. For a cold drip I wouldn't go finer than what you would do for a metal cone/paper filter. Drip is drip. The dilation device for the drip is what will get you the extra kick and flavor you want.

Drinking Guatemalan today, delicious!

Y'shua , the coffee was a little weak. Would heating the water before help(I'm guessing it would)? It dripped for just over a hour last night. With the Bunn and a micro filter (ground fine)I can get about the same taste as the french press. I read that a drip can get good results also. My wife (being Japanese)and myself like very strong coffee. Thats what I'm going for.

u.hansen. It should have a butterfly style valve on the dropper right? Close it and let the coffee steep in cold water for 12 hours. This pulls out the oils and a smooth strong flavor. Hot water breaks up the oils and "burns" the sugars that would other contribute to a fantastically smooth flavor. When it's steeped for X number of hours turn the valve and let it filter out. You'll be more than happy with the result. The finer the grind the more quickly the oils dissipated and become foul. It's why French press gives you such a smooth cup. Also why espresso needs to be brewed so quickly after being ground. With 30 seconds to 1 minute. Stick with a paper filter sized grind but use the fine filter still and make sure you let it steep. You'll be more than pleased with the results. Cold brewing is absolutely fantastic.

Y'shua, Thanks for the info. No valve though. Are you familiar with a Revere ware Drip-o-lator. That's what I'm working with. I think it would be considered a pour over.

This is the list, so far. If anyone else wants in you have until this evening to secure a spot!!

U.hansen. Sounds good, and not a problem. I'm not familiar with that specific model no. A soak then filter should give you a nice cup though.

Y'shua, That's what I did. The wife is enjoying her first cup right now....thanks
One of the coffee's I ordered is roasted only once a week so I won't be able get out for about another week...can't wait!

Are you throwing the soak water out then brewing the beans or drinking the soak water?

You'd filter the water that the beans were soaked in and drink that. The grounds would be discarded.

Oh wow, I usually leave cold brew for 48 hrs. + I've tried 24 hrs before but I thought it was still quite watery?

Tic - toc a couple more hours and I will draw some names. If anyone else wants in......

In for what? :D Whatever it is, consider me in!

I just bought a new coffee maker yesterday; had thee most awesome cup of filtered brew this morning. :teapot: I'd forgotten what a good cup of coffee tasted like! You, & a couple of the other coffee connoisseur's here, were right abut the filtered water, J! Thanks!
