Coke vs. RC Cola

I was a former coca cola addict, until I worked in a Pepsi distributor for two years and married the pusher so to speak. Just recently (re)discovered RC Cola here when a discount chain started to carry it, and I feel it "cuts" as good as Pepsi and much better than Coke. And much cheaper than all but most heavily subsidized chain store deals. To my eternal shame introduced my son to it as well. I heard that there are many regional variations in the coke formula, issat so?

Colas....Coke rules, RC is ok, and Pepsi tastes like dish soap. :barf:

Root Beer.....Stewart's and IBC. :D

Real beer....Guinness and New Castle Brown. :D :D

Actually, I prefer Pepsi over both Coke or RC.

I'm with allenC on this one.

However I am considering giving up soda all together due to all the sugar and also because it's just drinking empty calories.

If I had to pic.....I'd go for RC. I like RC Cola.

Always preferred RC anyway, just harder to find.

As for you rootbeer afficianados, try Henry Weinhart's, you'll never touch A&W, Stewarts, IBC, or Barq's again.

Henry Weinhart's makes root beer? I grew up on thier regular leaded stuff. I remeber my dad giving me sips when we were working in the yard as a kid. Got me hooked on it young. Great middle of the road beer.

I drink very little soda (pop as we call it in Michigan) but I definitley prefer RC over Coke. An interesting side note is that 2 or more liters of coke per day combined with no food will get rid of the stomach flu. I believe this is because Coke is too acidic for the flu to survive in. Take my word for it, next time you get the stomach flu, drink all the regular coke you want, and you will get rid of it. If you don't start drinking it at the first sign, you will probably barf the first time you drink some down, but after that no more diarrhea, stomach pains or fever.

Never hear of RC Cola, though I got a taste for Root Beer when in New York.
RC stands for Royal Crown. I'm quite disappointed that the Queen can't get Royal Crown cola over there. :(

When I was a kid, RC was the cola of choice, because it tasted great and came in a 16oz bottle for the same price as a 12oz Coke or Pepsi. Plus, they always had a bottle top game where you could win BIG MONEY! Sometimes a quarter or 50 cents.

Does anybody else remember Frostie root beer - with this guy on the bottle?

Frostie man, Frostie!

I have a question for those of you who are dentally inclined.

How is it that Americans drink more soft drink and coffee per head than anyone else on the planet and yet still have such good teeth? Where the british just drink tea and warm beer and have such horrible teeth?

Hm. I don't drink that much cola, but when I do, I usually pick Coke.

However, sometimes, one just craves an RC.

John, Buffalo Rock and Blenheim are much better. :D

For whatever it's worth, I'm just going to take a wild guess. Although sugar consumption is bad for teeth, I think what is more important for healthy, strong teeth is adequate nutrition. We are fortunate here in the States in that we enjoy a very high level of nutrition, as a general rule. At least when we choose to eat right. Lots of protein, vitamins, minerals, etc. equals lots of "building blocks" for strong teeth. (:D Like this 'smiley' guy! :D ) We also use lots of toothpaste.

Like Whatever!  :p

Yep, Henry Weinhart's makes root beer. It actually costs more than their beer, and is worth the price IMO.

I used to be an RC freak but got burned out on colas altogether. Was a Freska-holic before they banned cyclamates (tasted like crap afterwards, though the recent stuff isn't bad)

Barq's is root beer for people who'd really rather be drinking Coke. The best I had was the stuff we made at home from Hire's concentrate. Birch beer is my favorite (there was a little ice cream shop near my home that made their own and that was the best, but it is so hard to find in bottles that I really don't have a favorite brand). These days I mostly drink Canada Dry diet raspberry gingerale, or Shwepp's ginger beer.
