Cold Steel Cold Steel 2021 Catalog : Lots of 3V Big Choppers

I don't understand why Cold Steel doesn't put a full tang in their 3V knives instead of those dinky stick tangs. 3V is some of the toughest steel used in knives. If you're going to make a knife to beat on... Make a knife to BEAT on. Don't half ass it.
The Cold Steel Warcrafts are 3V with full tang exposed , G10 scales .

Yes, no doubt he reported back (what was it one guy here called them... his "new masters"?) to the buyers of CS that his intricate, subversive and nefarious plans had been discovered by the investigative arm of Bladeforums. o_O

How could LT have known how much time and energy would be burned here to unravel his devious master plan?

I know it's hurtful to some, but after many, many years of intense criticism here of his marketing, his products, his designs and certainly the man himself on a personal level, I doubt he gives much of $#@%^ about the BF haters and critics.

It is possible we just aren't that important to a global company. Ok, probably...

I wonder how many of those $700 CPM 3v kukris Cold steel sells outside of the niche enthusiast market? Think they'll end up in the big box stores?

Have you seen the actual tangs? I believe they are pretty sturdy/wide/tall, not like a rat tail tang or anything.

Plenty strong.

Nope !

LCT may appear the crude clownish buffoon to many detractors and his great success in a highly competitive industry is just dumb luck or a mystery to them .

Wrong ! He knows his customer base and exactly how and what to sell to them .

I think the co. sale was pending at the time , but the buyers wanted to use 4034SS inappropriately against LT's advise .

He wanted to generate a :poop:storm of fan protest to show it was not a good move .

Makes no logical sense otherwise .

Those guys know more about marketing their product than I do. They're a multimillion-dollar company with a track record of success. I am not.

But personally, I think a product like that from them is a miss. Again, that's just me personally and they may be trying to make inroads into a new market. I think they are well established as a maker of hard-working sturdy knives and fair price with small offerings into a niche market like their blow guns, etc.

I think if they really did look at BF and actually floated the idea of a $700 kukri (or most any other CS product) here on BF looking for opinions, they would not have those in the catalogue. Even if that knife winds up at 30% off MAP, I still think it will be a fail along with anything else similarly priced in the catalogue.

So no, doubtful they rely much on BF for the direction of the company or its product offerings. Doubtful you will find much poistive response HERE to their ridiculously priced products.

The best bargain is the 3" recon 1 in AUS10 it should wind up around 50-55.00

DocJD DocJD , I agree with most of your post! No one knows the Cold Steel market like its creator, LT. I think he flies his own flag, marches to the beat of his own drum, and has found and established his place in the knife Market just like you described.

In other words, I agree with you. He never ran away in tears from his own advertising and goofy promotions after reading all the snarky comments, mockery, and outright disgust that came his way from places like BF. He hasn't wavered in his mission or promotions.

Don't know about the controversy started over the steel issue to make a point to his purchasers, but on the other hand thinking about it in the light you cast on it, it does kind of make sense.

Wow 700 bucks for a kukri. And its not full tang? Thats extreme high.

Jeez my custom kukris are like 600-625 in 3V and thats WITH Rubberized Carbon Fiber handles($$$) and a kydex sheath.

C'mon...if you did proof videos with all that meat, you'd have to charge like $800:D

I guess the musta fired the guy who looks at stuff and says "Really, no really".

Oh wait they fired everyone.

At the list price , or even at MAP ...they should supply whatever dang sheath you prefer !

Still , for outdoors uncoated 3V blade , properly fitted Kydex would be mine .
I have zero problems with properly fitted kydex, but IMO leather simply looks best with some of CS’s offerings.

I’m no stranger to expensive knives, but some of those prices are out of hand. You’re telling me that a precision, handmade custom AD-20 from Andrew Demko is only $100 more than that mass produced khukri? Of course this is MSRP we’re talking about but that’s still pretty ridiculous. Even with a 50% price reduction at retailers some of those knives still aren’t in line with what Cold Steel used to bring to the table in terms of value.

To be honest it’s nice to see them stepping up and making knives more for the enthusiast market. I’m glad they are moving forward in a positive way after the buyout, but I think I’ll be passing on some of those models until I see what the retail prices look like

Let's not jump the gun. We don't know how these guys will play with their dealer network, and these prices may simply represent even bigger discounts. We may yet see that $764.99...kukuri selling for $300 with a 60% discount off of MSRP. Time will tell.

OR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
like the A2 models that they adversited; they may NEVER appear.
Almost six months after announcing the 4034 models, they are NOT even listed
much less available.
cold steel USED to be quality at a good price
The quality items are WAY overpriced.
And I would NEVER do business with ANY company that has NO customer service.
