Cold Steel AD 10

Question for you guys, did the papers that came with the knife indicate what the hole in the guard area is to be used for?

I’ll have to read the”Distructions” when I get home . Looks like it could be used for a stop pin to make it a fixed blade. Other then that I have no idea or maybe it makes it more aerodynamic during hard use exercises :D

Lol or just a way to lighten up the knife
Thanks

I kinda guessed it was something like that, but if it’s not provided with the knife, why have it?

UPDATE:
Well I’ve been carrying this AD 10 since it’s arrival and I’m loving it even more which I didn’t think was possible since I liked it so much out of the gate .
Been cutting some rope today and some plastic wrap , envelopes and oh man is this hollow grind combined with the edge geometry a cutting machine . Still razor sharp no need to even strop it. Cold steel did a awesome job on this S35vn

It is a handful to be sure! just got home, @Jordan@DLT shipped quickly and arrived a day sooner than expected, always a plus :)

Just a quick shot, made a bobtail fob to aid drawing the knife out,

Opens as smooth as ever and of course locks up vault tight. Arrived very sharp, which Cold Steel knives often do. The pocket clip tip, had to take and bend the very tip up just a tad in order to get it to go onto my pockets, I like the wider clip.
Centered and just all in all really nice! Big, did I mention that it is big? well it doesn't feel as heavy as you might think and it handles very good, blade opens fast too.

Nice, as Mal would say, 'Shiny' :)

cold steel is new to me as far as buying them....had always thought of them as lower end knives. When I got this AD10 I was blown away.....i believe now!

I think many have this misconception.
Cold Steel has always had premium offerings but mostly fixed blades in the past.
Even the most inexpensive CS knives like the Pendleton Lite or Pro Lite series are tough knives that actually have decent cutting geometry and great steel for the price.

The new stuff like the AD10,AD15, and the SR1 really are impressive for the price.
So far I only have got the AD15 but I can see me picking up an AD10 soon.
Before the the 15 my most expensive CS was the Recon1 XL in XHP, usually all my other plus 150 knives have been Spyderco.

Looks like it could be used for a stop pin to make it a fixed blade.

I thought that Andrew Demko stated that it's for a safety pin on the custom AD-10s.

Not sure about the custom AD-10s, but on my 4-Max and CS AD-10, there is a space between the hole and the blade, meaning that a pin wouldn't actually make contact with the blade, so the blade can still move a bit before it hits the pin. So it may add some safety if the blade were to disengage for some reason and start to close, but it's not going to wedge the blade open to call it a fixed blade.
